What is Nuclear Pharmacy? Yesterday I posted about different verticals of pharmacy but didn't describe them in detail. This is the breakdown of Nuclear Pharmacy. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐮𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲? People with strong math and science skills, especially physics are likely to enjoy this line of work. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐮𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐨? They properly handle hazardous chemicals and biological specimens and prepare radioactive drugs by combining radioisotopes with reagent kits. They tend to practice in a laboratory environment, testing new drugs and compounding procedures. 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐮𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲? The hours can be very unsocial with pharmacists needing to be on call and some shifts starting at midnight. The drugs need to be available 24/7 so if you're not comfortable with mixed shifts, it might not be for you.
