This International Women's Day we're highlighting research on women's health. 🩸 1 in 3 women describe their periods as heavy, but only 1 in 20 consult their GP about it. ⏲️ Many women experience the impact of heavy periods on their work, relationships, and mental health. Yet, women still delay getting help and are worried about being taken seriously. 💊 But here's the good news: new research sheds light on effective treatments that can significantly improve quality of life. Whether it's a hormone-releasing coil or oral medications, these options have shown long-lasting benefits, sparing many from the need for surgery. As we acknowledge National Women's Health Awareness Month, let's turn our attention to a condition that affects millions of women worldwide: Endometriosis. This often misunderstood and underdiagnosed condition can have a profound impact on women's lives, underscoring the urgent need for increased awareness and innovative diagnostic approaches. #Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, and other debilitating symptoms. Despite its prevalence, diagnosing endometriosis can be challenging, leading to delays in treatment and unnecessary suffering for patients. This Women's Health Awareness Month, let's emphasize the importance of #MolecularImaging in revolutionizing the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. Molecular imaging techniques, such as positron emission tomography (#PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (#MRI), offer a non-invasive way to visualize and characterize endometrial lesions with unprecedented precision. We highlight recent publications by Prof. Anna Moore's group at Michigan State University focused on non-invasive detection of endometriosis. This recent publication (https://lnkd.in/drA3uamx) does so by using a gadolinium-based collagen type I targeting probe developed by their lab. Another study led by her group (https://lnkd.in/d52bWC22) evaluated cRGD-peptide-conjugated nanoparticles (RGD-Cy5.5-MN) for endometriosis lesion detection. Together, let's empower women to take control of their reproductive health and break the silence surrounding endometriosis. 💖 #WomensHealth #EndometriosisAwareness #MolecularImaging #Empowerment

#womenshistorymonth Women have been undervalued, underdiagnosed, undertreated, and underresearched. Across the board, protocols designed for men have been applied as one-size-fits-all to women without consideration for gender-based prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The gap widens when we explore sociocultural factors driving the underdiagnosis and underestimation of pain for women. 🔗https://hubs.li/Q02nWPTK0 #PAINWeek #blogpost #PAINWeek2024 #PAINWeekconference #healthcareprofessionals #PAINWeeklasvegas #thecosmopolitanoflasvegas #pain #painmanagement #painmedications #PAINWeekattendees #PAINWeekcme #cme #ce #PAINWeek2024conference #painconference #painsponsors #paineducation #paintopics #paincourses

Co-Founder at Nexus 💙 raising SEIS | The Lifelong Health Companion for Every Woman's Unique Journey | 15 yrs NHS Experience & Women's Health Advocate
https://lnkd.in/e4S6kJP2 I really appreciated the piece on the deep-rooted medical misogyny around women’s pain and how often it’s minimised. Too often, women are told to “just take a painkiller” or “go on the pill,” and, worse, that what they’re experiencing is normal and they should simply accept it. If men had periods, we wouldn’t still be asking these questions. This kind of advice does a disservice to women, who deserve better. As someone who has spent 15 years in traditional medicine and now co-founder of @Nexus, I’ve seen firsthand how the system falls short in recognising and addressing the unique challenges women endure. At Nexus we’re building an AI-enabled platform to help women better manage their health, from tracking cycles to addressing complex issues like hormone balance and pain management. The gap in understanding women’s pain is vast, but technology and innovation can help bridge that divide by empowering women with data-driven tools that ensure their experiences are taken seriously. It’s time for real change in healthcare so women’s pain is recognised and addressed with the care it deserves.
