Earlier this week, our EMEA employee led Advancing Professionals Business Resource Council hosted an insightful conversation with Teresa Parker, Northern Trust President – EMEA. Covering her inspiring and impressive 42-year career at Northern Trust, Teresa inspired over 400 of our next generation leaders by sharing key insights on navigating a corporate environment, her early career days all the way through to becoming an executive; identifying opportunities for career progression; career challenges and lessons learnt; and the ever-evolving landscape of Northern Trust as an organization, and the broader financial services industry. “From a career perspective, it’s important to understand what motivates you and to spend time thinking about what additional skills you need to get and how to go about getting those. 📚 From intern to COO. 🚠 From 2 to 11 team members. 🚀 From an idea to a successful business. Turning a dream into reality requires perseverance. So much is not shown in the statements above: the constant learning, the camaraderie, the wins and losses, the tough decisions, the grit required to show up day and again amidst the excitement of uncertainty. To me, walking this path of entrepreneurship and leadership has not only shaped my growth as a professional but also as a human being. This journey continues to teach me how to evolve - in purpose and self-awareness, in always showing up, even when it is hard, and in holding tight to my values. In my new role as COO, I am eager to contribute to Behavioral Science Research Institute’s continued success by driving innovation and excellence while creating a supportive organizational infrastructure to meet our shared goals. I believe that by leading with our strengths and fostering a culture of integrity and collaboration, we can achieve everything we have set out to do and more. To my team - I both admire and am inspired by you. This promotion speaks volumes of BSRI’s organizational growth, which is a result of deep effort on behalf of many. There is still much to learn.
