CFOs elevating to have their CEOs' backs This week we held our quarterly in-person Mastermind session for The CFO Boardroom at a stunning new location at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. With the final quarter of the calendar year ahead, the CFOs came in wanting to ensure they finished the year strong. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Global Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Leadership Summit in Paris. Deloitte's Q2 2024 CFO Survey reiterated the importance of building strong, smart teams. First, 25% of organizations do not have a formal succession plan for their CFO....This is even more staggering when the second finding was that CFOs rank recruiting and retaining talent as their 2nd highest internal risk. The highest internal risk was related to GenAI: the lack of knowledge within a team on how to use it to increase productivity, and/or to set reasonable and thoughtful limitations on it. What this points to is that talent is and always will be the top indicator of success for a business. Talent who can be matured into leadership, understand and appreciate the role of emerging technologies, and who can plan for the future.
