⛔️ 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗙𝗢 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? ⛔️ It is time to put the CFO role back into the spotlight. Large scale IT deployments have been an important driver for consulting growth over the last years. Nonetheless, translating this into “less attention for the CFO” in my opinion is a strategic mistake. According to a recent ‘EY Center for Executive Leadership’ study, ▶️ CFOs play a critical role in cross-company business transformation and cost reduction initiatives ▶️ CFOs are a driving force behind many transformative digital initiatives with relevance further increasing with GenAI ▶️ CFOs often move on to CEO or other business leadership roles with significant impact Reason enough for consultancies to refocus strongly on CFOs if they are not already doing so. Interesting perspective Niklas Oldiges - I am looking forward to seeing what is coming when it comes to the role of the CFO for digital transformations (GenAI). I agree that we should invest into networking with CFOs and build long-lasting relatioships with them.
Thanks for sharing Niklas Oldiges - CFOs are not just gatekeepers of financial data; they’re strategic partners driving innovation and growth. Their involvement in technology adoption, risk management, and strategic decision-making is essential. Companies that prioritize CFO engagement often see improved financial performance and agility in adapting to market changes. Excited to explore further insights on CFO impact 🚀
Insightful paper: The analysis covering the shorter tenures of CFOs coupled with that of the essential role of the CFOs in transformation (multi-year initiatives), are causes for concern for many as only a minority of digital transformation initiatives succeed and that includes digital finance transformation.
Agreed, Niklas. In the end, IT is a part of the framework conditions and should support CFOs in their daily work.
Excellent point of view, Niklas Oldiges; thank you for sharing. It's time to refocus on CFOs to drive transformation within organizations. As you rightly pointed out, any transformation initiatives have significant impacts on the financial structure of companies. Based on our experience in the Central America region (EYCA), I agree that CFOs are the drivers behind transformative projects! #businesstransformation #ey #consulting #cfos EY

7mo𝗖𝗙𝗢 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 - One idea I would like to test here and might launch as a separate post: I think we have some great voices on the CFO and CFO thought leadership on LInkedIn but so far it does not feel like we have a lot of connect and exchange. I would be interested in a 𝗖𝗙𝗢 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 to further push CFO topics here. Anybody (also outside EY of course) who thinks this would be a good idea? Who are the great CFO creators?
