Pompe Consortium is partnering with RARE-X, a program of Global Genes, to build a Data Collection Program for our families. 🎉 When you participate in the Pompe Disease Data Collection Initiative, you’ll help advance research and the development of new drugs, devices, and other therapies for Pompe Disease. All data is patient-owned and managed, allowing you to determine how your research-ready information is used, and by whom. We’ll even be able to share data trends with you. Really? Is that all we can do? This is what I am saying while they are taking this photo of me at the Whale Tank pitching contest at the Innovation Network Gathering last week. Addressing the critical issue of global clinical trials, it's evident that existing tools predominantly focus on the US market, leaving the rest as manual research. On stage, I highlighted the blindspot that clinical research teams have - the ex-US countries. Understanding the patient's pathway is crucial, as demonstrated by a colleague in Israel. Moving from the USA to Israel, their treatment cost decreased from $15,000 to just $5 per month. This significant shift emphasizes the impact of healthcare systems on clinical research and patient perceptions. Healthcare systems play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical research landscape, affecting strategy, budgets, and patient acceptance. I firmly believe that we can do better. My team and I are committed to facing the hard challenges of running multinational trials and enhancing the success of clinical trials.
