#leapyear2024 (and all leap years) exists because the world follows a 365-day calendar, it actually takes Earth a little bit more than a year to orbit the sun. It takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds to orbit the sun, according to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration —  So, leap years are added to make-up for the difference. Hard work and determination pays off

I imagine many of my connections, especially those who work in technology, appreciate a good "space" story when they read one. I am so impressed by the team at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration who continue to keep the 47 year old Voyager 1 spacecraft alive. A recent dilemma did not deter NASA's engineers from delivering new commands far into space, activating thrusters that keep Voyager 1's antenna aimed at Earth. 🌍 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eXetRAT5 #science #technology #problemsolving

There are several ways to measure success operating off-world. The first is if you can orbit another heavenly body. The second is if you can land successfully off-world. The third is how far you can travel. NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration generated a nice chart illustrating the travel records for the Moon and Mars. For reference, the record for total distance machines travel on other worlds is around a marathon run. Today, we celebrate #OneGiantLeap with the 55th anniversary of Apollo 11. Since the day humans first walked on the Moon, many small (and large) steps have been taken to progress our understanding of space. What was once almost exclusively the domain of government is now a burgeoning place for the commercial space industry and exciting new discoveries and capabilities, connecting us all worldwide on an unprecedented scale.
