🧐 Who puts drumming into the middle of a Leadership Event?
Music connects us on a personal and human level. It does not need to be translated it as it crosses, continents, countries, people of all ages and from all walks of life. We all share some love of music.
It has the power unite us in song whether in the Liverpool Football stadium singing "You Will Never Walk Alone" to a rock concert ( 😎 trivia alert: I mean Rod Stewart managed to clock up 4.2million attendees in Rio, Brazil).
It also has a power to restore us, inspire us, motivate us and offers a range of benefits for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. When I research tribes and ancient ritual; music and drumming is prevalent throughout. A Shaman taught me that drumming can be found in Africa, India, Australia, South America, North America, Russia and throughout Europe. A drum is always benevolent.
I will always experiment to do different things at our events because we need to disrupt our own thinking to innovate and bring a fresh perspective. I am also very keen to share what I have learned with the Courageous Leaders Limited community.
💡 Perhaps carve out 15-20mins in your next team meeting to talk about your first concert, first band, first rock star crush or how music featured in your life story - the soundtrack to your life. My favourite is always popstar haircuts gone badly wrong. I'd love to hear your feedback.
Other benefits:
😊 1. Stress Relief: The repetitive, rhythmic nature of drumming helps calm the mind, reducing stress and anxiety by promoting relaxation and mindfulness.
🪘 2. Improved Mood: Drumming can elevate mood by stimulating the release of endorphins, the brain’s natural "feel-good" chemicals, helping to alleviate symptoms of depression.
😃 3. Boosts Immune System: Studies suggest that group drumming and singling can enhance immune function by increasing the body's production of natural killer cells, which help fight off viruses.
🥳 4. Emotional Expression: Music allows for non-verbal expression, providing a safe outlet for releasing emotions like anger, sadness, or frustration.
🫂 5. Community and Connection: Group engagement with music fosters social interaction, a sense of belonging, and deepens connection with others, which can have therapeutic benefits for those struggling with isolation.
