At Nilfisk, we believe that transparency is a key driver towards environmental action. Why? Because transparency drives the ability to compare performance 🔍🚀 Fortunately, we share this belief with our customers and investors. We are therefore active supporters of CDP and report our carbon footprint data through their global disclosure system. “CDP is a core reference in ESG reporting and an important part of our effort for carbon and environmental transparency,” says Malene Thiele VP Global ESG and Sustainability at Nilfisk. According to Dexter Galvin, Chief Commercial and Partnerships Officer at CDP, “Nilfisk has shown commitment to transparency around environmental impacts and strategies for action by disclosing through CDP since 2020. Regular disclosure drives climate action and so we look forward to Nilfisk sharing their environmental data for years to come.” Nilfisk has been awarded an 'A-' score by CDP for the past four years. We have just submitted new data and will receive its 2024 score later this year. In addition to climate change, Nilfisk will also report on water stewardship in 2024 🚰

A third of the Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the binational Great Lakes region, the economic engine of North America. In a region that is guardian to one of the world’s largest freshwater systems, one that holds 20% of earth’s surface freshwater, environmental stewardship and corporate sustainability is a responsibility and an expectation. But how do we know that companies in our communities are implementing global best practices and adhering to the highest standards that will help protect our Great Lakes? And how can businesses, both big and small, build trust and communicate their commitments on sustainability and climate action? Transparent reporting of environmental impacts, including carbon emissions, is a critical element of consumer trust and a growing requirement of governments across the globe, and sustainability reporting standards can help companies understand and communicate their economic, environmental, and social impacts. In the March 2024 webinar, co-hosted by CGLR and USBCSD as part of our Great Lakes Carbon Collaborative, we will hear from GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), an independent, international organization that sets standards and creates a global common language for impact reporting that fosters transparency, organizational accountability, and informed decision-making to advance sustainable development in the interest of all. The GRI Standards are the world's most widely used standards for sustainability reporting and are used by 78% of the world's largest companies. During this one-hour webinar, we’ll hear about GRI’s approach to developing standards and how the reporting standards are helping companies communicate transparently. GRI will discuss the two-pillar reporting system and their role in the current sustainability and ESG disclosure landscape, as well as update us on new Climate Change and Energy Topic Standards revisions. If you are wanting to better understand and communicate your organization’s impact, including impact on climate change, be sure to register for this informative event. In 2023, over 21,000 companies reported their climate, #deforestation, and water security efforts to CDP. However, only a mere 2% made it to the coveted A-List for environmental #disclosures. CDP's annual assessment, ranging from D- to A, plays a crucial role in guiding companies toward impactful climate action. Despite a 24% increase in climate disclosures, only a 14% rise in A-List companies signals a lag in the comprehensive reporting needed for genuine progress. Sherry Madera of #CDP, emphasizes the urgency: "The stark reality is that we are incredibly far behind where we need to be, and progress is much too slow." Investors are taking notice, with 288 financial institutions managing $29 trillion seeking environmental disclosures from 1,500 high-impact companies in 2023. CDP has raised the bar for A-List companies, requiring 100% verification of Scope 1 and 2 emissions for climate leaders and a full commodity #supplychain disclosure for forest champions. Only 10 companies, including L'Oréal, Lenzing Group, and Danone, earned an A score across all three themes, showcasing #transparency in climate change, deforestation, and water security. https://lnkd.in/eqjHMdup

After five years of collecting ESG data on the natural rubber sector, what do we know? 📈 Policy disclosures have improved! Most companies have laid the groundwork for eliminating deforestation, human & workers’ rights abuses, and reducing GHG emissions. In 2019 just 39% had comprehensive sustainability policies covering their supply chains, now it's 71.4%! This trend has been helped by the adoption of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber Policy Framework by many companies. 🛰 🌳 Organisation & Practice disclosures continue to lag Sustainability step 1) create a policy, step 2) implement it. This is easier said than done and progress on commitments takes time. In 2024, despite 71.4% of companies committing suppliers to zero deforestation, only 17% actively monitor supplier plantations to check. Actions need to pick up pace! 🗣 Companies who engage with ZSL score higher The ZSL SPOTT indicator framework has grown from 120 to 185 indicators, best practice has advanced, and so have stakeholder expectations. Companies often need guidance on why their disclosures are not scoring higher and we can provide clarity. Companies engaging with ZSL on average scored 59.5% in 2024, compared to 25.3% for those who didn’t. 🌦 Climate risk Cultivating a crop relies on a stable climate – the whole supply chain must identify climate risks and set out mitigation strategies. In 2019 only 13.3% of companies had public climate risk assessments, now it's 46.7%! 💡 See a summary of the 2024 results https://lnkd.in/gqN9_U4u 💡 Observe trends https://lnkd.in/gsbiH54F 💡 Explore company assessments https://lnkd.in/gp7hJT8z 💡 New to ESG in natural rubber? Thoughtful leadership from WWF - smart mechanisms to enact value chain abatement with strictly no conflation with beyond value chain mitigation and offsetting. Three things to deliver integrity: 1 - Companies must take responsibility for 100% of their emissions. Scope 3 targets are currently limited to 67% coverage due to perceived impracticality. With mechanisms to resolve these issues companies must move to 100%. 2 - Value chain mechanisms must focus on impact; no more attribute shuffling or cheap certificates that have little benefit. They must also include for safeguarding, engagement and sustainable development, as Paris and other voluntary mechanisms have recently begun to do. 3 - The voluntary carbon market, as part of Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM) must hold the moral high line and be the mechanism holding all of the above to account. This is undermined, along with the reputation of the VCM, where scope 3 targets and the use of unrelated credits are conflated. We wrote on these topics in the weeks leading up to LCAW, you can find our detailed thoughts: https://lnkd.in/e78zn7FK #scope3 #carbonmarkets #corporateresponsibility https://lnkd.in/ezBJ3zDd

Exciting news! We received an outstanding rating from CDP, boosting our sustainability journey. 🌍✨ We were acknowledged for our proactive stance in identifying and transparently sharing information about environmental risks that could impact our business financially or strategically. We firmly believe that environmental disclosure is not just a responsibility but a crucial measure to address climate-related risks, including the critical aspects of climate change and water security. We take pride in achieving a 'B' rating for Climate Change Management 'B-' for Water Security, surpassing the global average “C” rating! CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions to manage their environmental impacts. The world’s economy looks to CDP as the gold standard of environmental reporting with the richest and most comprehensive dataset on corporate and city action. Embracing transparency about our progress and challenges is at the core of our journey! The road ahead might be long and challenging, but we are committed to staying on this path. 💚 #IndoramaVentures #CDP #ESG #Decarbonization #ClimateAction

One more step forward on this ESG journey! In this second module, understanding more about physical and financial impacts of climate changes and the risks and opportunities that it creates for businesses. Reviewing examples of public and private environmental governance and learning a little bit about how to promote a circular economy through better stewardship of resources and waste management, the challenges with recycling programs worldwide, and greenwashing concepts. 👏
