This week, we joined other hog farmers and pork companies in Washington, DC to share with policymakers why we oppose the highly controversial EATS Act inclusion in the Farm Bill. The EATS Act would roll back California’s Proposition 12, the country’s strongest animal welfare law, and take away economic opportunity for higher-welfare hog farmers. We're particularly grateful to U.S. Representative Jim McGovern (MA-2) and U.S. Representative Jim Costa (CA-21) for meeting with us in person on this important issue. Thanks to our friends at ButcherBox, True Story Foods, Mastodon Farm, Honey Grove Farms and Feathered Acres Farm for using our collective voice to help support both pigs and family farmers. This is one of the most important pieces of legislation in #agriculture right now. The EATS Act erodes protective legislation and threatens public health, food safety, and the environment. I've read the entire bill, and it's a bit insidious. I stand with True Story Foods and my friends ButcherBox on this one. #RoomtoRoam #TheEATSAct #Prop12 #AnimalWelfare #EthicalFarming #Sustainability
This week, the House of Representative’s released the framework of their proposed 2024 Farm Bill, which include a version of the EATs Act — a piece of legislation ButcherBox has been opposing for months alongside Whole Foods Market, Niman Ranch, True Story Foods, Thrive Market, and more than 20 others. This bill would overturn common-sense animal welfare laws including California’s Prop 12 and MA Q3 and goes directly against ButcherBox’s mission to transform the meat industry by doing right by animals, farmers, and the planet. ButcherBox is dedicated to continuing our opposition to this bill by urging our Congressional members and leadership to keep EATs language out of the final bill text. We’re not willing to take this massive step backward in the fight to fix the food system. Read our open letter to Congress ⬇️ https://bchrbox.co/EATsAct #FarmBill #EATsAct #ButcherBox

Here at Applegate, we’re dedicated to the health and well-being of animals. The EATS Act directly challenges common-sense animal welfare regulations—and our values as an organization. We’re proud to join ButcherBox and other industry leaders in opposing the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act (S.2019 and H.R.4417). If passed, this bill would overturn two landmark animal welfare laws: Prop 12 in California and Question 3 in Massachusetts. Both laws prohibit the sale of eggs, veal, or pork in their respective states from animals that were confined in small spaces. At Applegate Farms, we have always exceeded the standards set by Prop 12 and Q3. Our bacon comes from farms where pigs have plenty of space, light and fresh air. And we do not and never will use gestation crates. Want to get involved? Share this post with your network to help stop this bill before it’s too late. https://lnkd.in/eHSRXHan

Dogs are affectionate animals that form strong bonds and rely on their human companions. Once you begin feeding stray dogs, consistency is key—aim to provide food regularly, ideally at least once a day. While dogs may not express it in words, they will undoubtedly demonstrate their love and loyalty to you for the entirety of their lives. Feeding stray dogs holds significant importance for various reasons: Compassion: Offering food to stray dogs is an act of compassion, enhancing their quality of life and bringing joy and peace in your own life. Health: Providing food for stray dogs can help maintain their health and prevent the spread of diseases. Population control: You win over the stray dogs' trust by feeding them, making it easier to pick them up for spay/neuter surgeries, and contributing to their population control. Community responsibility: Feeding stray dogs can also help promote community responsibility and raise awareness of animal welfare. Always ensure safe and responsible feeding practices for stray dogs, and seek guidance from animal welfare organizations when needed. #ccc #dogcare #straydogs #straylives #feedingdogs #dogsofinstagram #dogs #petcare #doglover #doglovers #doglife #pets #doghealth #doggrooming #doglove #pet #puppy #dogstagram #dogoftheday #dogcaretips #petlovers #dogsofinsta #dogtraining #instadog #dogsitting #petsofinstagram #puppies #doggydaycare #healthydog #doggroomer #mansbestfriend

Optimal gut health has been shown to impact litter quality and subsequent foot and leg health. Hock burn impinges on animal welfare and can lead to downgrades in the slaughterhouse, impacting overall profitability. A new trial shows how Orego-Stim can support performance and substantially reduce the incidence of hock burn in broilers.
