As frontline responders during the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Health Workers/Representatives (CHW/Rs) were exposed to health risks related to COVID-19 as well as mental health risks in experiencing emotionally difficult situations with their clients. Through a series of focus groups with CHW/Rs, the Arizona CEAL Consortium found that mental health challenges faced by CHW/Rs included anxiety, grief, and isolation, which were exacerbated by the pandemic. In response, the Arizona CEAL Consortium provided online synchronous training to equip CHW/Rs with essential mental health resources and self-care techniques. This National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, read more about how the Arizona CEAL Consortium, a partnership between Northern Arizona University's (NAU) Center for Health Equity Research and Arizona Community Health Workers Association Inc (AzCHOW), truly exemplifies the power of community-engaged research in addressing mental health disparities: https://bit.ly/3Lar1xL
