Happy International Women's Day to all the incredible women around the world! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere, past and present. I am deeply honored to have been invited by Thimo Schwenzfeier P&C Conscious Fashion Store Berlin to speak on the panel „Women * Care Together." It was a great exchange with Sema Gedik, Dr Franziska Leonhardt and well moderated by Anna Schunk. My take away from this great conversation is - Women need to make more demands! As we reflect on this historic day, the International Women's Day, and its origins dating back to the courageous actions of female textile workers in 1857 in New York, it serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and justice. Intersectionality, as eloquently defined by Kimberlé Crenshaw, sheds light on the complex interplay of various forms of inequality and disadvantage that shape our experiences. It speaks to the undeniable reality that certain aspects of our identities can amplify both our opportunities and our challenges in life. However, as we navigate these intersections, we must also confront the uncomfortable truth that privilege and exclusion often go hand in hand. Self-interrogation is a crucial step on the path towards genuine solidarity and collective care. It requires us to examine not only the injustices that others face but also the ways in which we may benefit from systems of privilege and power. True equality demands a willingness to confront our own complicity in perpetuating inequality and to actively work towards dismantling these structures. As we come together to discuss how women can truly care for one another, let us commit ourselves to this process of self-reflection and accountability. Let us create spaces where all voices are heard and all experiences are valued. Only then can we hope to build a more inclusive and equitable world for generations to come. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this important conversation and look forward to the insights and perspectives that will be shared.
