Standing up for your values shouldn’t mean that you get gunned down or stabbed. O’Shea Sibley and Lauri Carleton represent the best of America: standing up for what you believe in. There is a small group of extremists that are anti-LGBTQ that have turned up the violence and hate against LGBTQ people and our allies. The vast majority of Americans are allies that support LGBTQ people. All of the anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and fear mongering turns into violence and hate against LGBTQ people and makes it dangerous for us to exist. We need to see leadership on the Republican side stop villainizing and politicizing LGBTQ people. Staying silent is perpetuating and promoting violence. Thank you to PBS NewsHour for covering the rise in violence towards the LGBTQ community and our allies.

Let's be clear... the "Anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and fear mongering" you are speaking about is only coming from one side of the spectrum - the Right - and is arising out of only one of the political parties - the Republican Party. In order to confront it - It's important to be honest here.

Thank you for this! So much power when we come together to fight for our community. May we also connect to see how we can include the Caribbean diaspora specifically Josiah "Jonty" Robinson.
