A little over three years ago, Nissan operations in Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania were brought together as one AMIEO family. With 3.5 billion people living across 140 countries, AMIEO is one of the most diverse regions within the Nissan world, reflecting the many cultures, races and backgrounds we have amongst our 19,000 employees. We believe in harnessing the potential of this diversity to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace for everyone.   As a start, we have established a dedicated DEI council to lead us in the right direction and set our strategy, and also launched our AMIEO DEI Manifesto – a philosophy guiding our DEI journey. As an important next step in this journey, we are launching our first AMIEO DEI Annual report covering the 2022 Financial Year to hold us accountable, lend transparency to our actions and also celebrate the many amazing projects going on around our region towards DEI.   Our clear goal, driven by leadership and supported by everyone, is to create a workspace where all employees feel safe, valued, and respected. It's essentially the same concept, but all the cars in the race are electric-powered. And that, undoubtedly, comes with its own set of advantages and drawbacks. On March 30th, Japan hosted this thrilling sporting event for the first time. And Nissan, in a bid to welcome all the teams with flair, crafted an incredible kimono design. The entire collection was curated following the Japanese concept of "omotenashi," meaning "to entertain guests wholeheartedly." The presentation was a vivid display, with designers thoroughly explaining the concept and how it would be brought to life, taking into account the team's branding colors.As the event wrapped up, the phrase "Make yourselves comfortable, but not too comfortable" resonated. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 I actually quoted Luca de Meo a few months ago, and I'm going to do it again: "For the automotive industry, the age-old mantra was scale and efficiency. Now a new imperative has come to light: innovation and strategic agility." "Now we have to excel in several disciplines with very different and specific requirements: electric vehicles, software, mobility services, the circular economy…" Every single word is correct. But doing it is where the challenge is. This new ecosystem we live in which has an emphasise on software has brought in new challenges such as safety and cybersecurity. This shift has created a breakdown in communication due to different 'tribes' of people now in the product development process. This has created a new skill requirement which is the ability to communicate and work across teams that have different communication styles and understanding of priorities. This is why having someone/a team of people who understand the critical details between the moving parts to create a robust, forward thinking strategy and STICKS TO IT! As well, this strategy needs to come from the TOP down, with every layer buying into the strategy. The journey to the vision is never problem free, but having the belief and being brave to stick to it is the key. Reflecting on last night's F1 race in Singapore, the echoes of roaring engines and the city's electrifying atmosphere are still fresh in my mind. But what stands out the most is the wide-eyed wonder of my 7-year-old daughter. At home, she's my little sprinter, often challenging me with a playful, "Did you even see my feet?" believing she's as fast as Flash. Last night, I introduced her to a world where speed isn't just about how fast you move, but how effectively you adapt, innovate, and collaborate. This video captures her sheer fascination – her head turning left and right, trying to keep up with the cars. To my surprise, she was so engrossed that she stayed for hours, not wanting to leave. She's already asking about next year's race! When I asked her what she loved the most, she excitedly mentioned the sounds, the speed, and kept inquiring, "Who's winning?" As we watch the cars zoom past, I'm reminded of the partnership between Genesys and Scuderia Ferrari. It's not just about speed; it's about harnessing the power of real-time data, innovation, and collaboration to drive excellence, much like how Genesys empowers businesses to create memorable customer experiences. Reflecting on the day, I hope my daughter took away more than just the thrill of fast cars.
