National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)’s Post

In emergency response scenarios, every second counts, and the ability to pinpoint a first responder's precise location within building structures can be a matter of life and death. Now, we’re pushing 3D tracking tech forward.     NIST and Indiana University’s First Responder Smart Tracking Challenge has crowned technology champions. With $5 million in prizes on the line, six teams led the charge in harnessing biometric monitoring and cutting-edge sensors to identify where first responder were located within buildings.      Learn how these advancements could be the key to protecting those that protect us: https://lnkd.in/eJYG4NZ4   #EmergencyResponse #FirstResponders #TechInnovation #TechForGood #FRSTChallenge

As they say, "knowledge is power," and power can save your life or end it. I can see how this can be used for good and evil, but which technology doesn't have good and evil? That being said, I'm looking forward to how technology like this changes our response time and helps in scenarios like natural disasters that restructure buildings.
