Ensuring Our Children's Safety on the Road With over 500,000 school buses operating daily in the U.S., the statistics are alarming—approximately 500 buses break down each day, and around 240 are involved in accidents. This leaves our children exposed to potentially dangerous situations while stranded on the roadside. At Nite Beams, we believe that every school bus should be equipped with our School Bus Safety Kit. This kit includes: 3 orange cones 1 three-pack of cone commanders 1 LED Class 3 safety vest 1 traffic baton The cost to schools per kit is $513 Investing in these kits is about preventing accidents and saving children lives. Even one accident prevented over the next years would provide a great R.O.I. to schools and save their districts significant costs in potential lawsuits. But most important, it could save a child from injury or worse. We extend our thanks to Child Safety Network (CSNUSA) and humbly accept these awards National Traffic Safety Innovation Award™ and Safe Family Seal of Approval™ Your dedication to preventing accidents and saving lives is truly commendable. #SlowDownMoveOver #SafetyFirst #NiteBeams #CSNUSA

Promoting Road Safety in Schools: A Crucial Initiative Ensuring the safety of our children is paramount, especially when it comes to their daily commute to and from school. Today, I'm highlighting the importance of road safety education and initiatives within our school communities. 🚸Key Steps for Enhancing Road Safety in Schools: 1. Educational Programs: Implement comprehensive road safety education in the curriculum, teaching children about traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and responsible behavior on the roads. 2. Safe Infrastructure: Ensure that schools have well-marked crosswalks, traffic signals, and speed bumps in school zones to protect young pedestrians. 3. Parental Involvement: Encourage parents to model safe behavior and educate their children about road safety. Organize workshops and seminars for parents on best practices. 4. Community Engagement: Collaborate with local authorities, traffic police, and community organizations to promote road safety campaigns and create a safer environment for our students. 5. Safe Transportation: Ensure that school buses and other transport vehicles are well-maintained, equipped with safety features, and operated by trained drivers. Let’s come together to build a safer future for our children. Every small step counts in making a big difference! #RoadSafety #childsafety

Victim-blaming and "education" aren't enough to keep kids, or seniors, or anyone in between, safe on our streets and roads. In this superb article Emma Durand-Wood writes, “Today, many of the folks who are in decision-making positions of power within towns and cities were raised on Elmer [the Safety Elephant]. They grew up under a “personal responsibility” paradigm of road safety. They believed then — and evidently continue to believe — that if everyone just followed the safety rules, no one would get hurt. … “According to Statistics Canada, the rate of pedestrian deaths generally increases with age, and seniors aged 70 and older are the most at risk of a fatal pedestrian incident. Is it curious that the folks who grew up with an extremely robust pedestrian safety education are now among the most likely to be involved in a fatal collision? Not if we think for a moment about what other factors may be at play. …” Strong Towns https://lnkd.in/gHxBDp6H

🚸 **Back to School Safety Alert!** 🚸 As students head back to school, expect more traffic, especially around school zones and buses. It’s crucial to stay vigilant and keep our roads safe for everyone. **School Zone Safety Tips:** - Don’t block crosswalks at red lights or when turning—pedestrians shouldn’t have to walk into traffic. - When flashers are blinking, stop and yield to pedestrians in school zones. - Always stop for school patrol officers or crossing guards with stop signs. - Be extra cautious near schools, playgrounds, and residential areas. - Never pass a stopped vehicle allowing pedestrians to cross. **School Bus Safety Tips:** - Allow extra following distance behind buses. Passing a stopped bus loading or unloading children is illegal. - Stop if a bus's yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended. - Keep a safe distance of at least 10 feet around buses for children's safety. Stay alert, drive safely, and let’s make this school year a safe one!

As the new school year commences, my own children’s return to the classroom serves as a poignant reminder of the critical need for heightened safety measures in school zones. These areas bustling with students, parents, and teachers still adjusting to new routines amidst increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic, often come with heightened risks resulting from reduced overall alertness. As professionals in the construction industry, it is our duty to amplify our efforts, ensuring safe passage for all community members. In line with recommendations from the National Safety Council, it is essential for drivers to slow down and remain vigilant. This is especially important during school hours when children are likely to be traveling to and from school. To prevent accidents and ensure the safety of children, strict adherence to speed limits and attentiveness to school bus signs are vital. Let’s all commit to bolstering our safety protocols to guarantee a secure environment for our children. Together, we can make a significant impact in safeguarding our communities during these busy times. Hey, parents and students! As we gear up for the third term, let's make sure we're all set for a safe and successful return to school. Here are some essential safety tips from CDF - Civil Defence Force to keep in mind: 🔸Stay Healthy: Keep up with good hygiene practices. Wash hands frequently, use hand sanitisers, and avoid touching your face. 🔸Change Routes and times: Criminals tend to target people who use the same route every day and use this a way of tracking people. Try leave at different times and using alternative routes to school and work. 🔸Stay Warm: It is going to be a cold week. Be sure to dress warm and keep warm. 🔸Follow School Guidelines: Adhere to any new protocols your school has implemented to ensure everyone's safety. 🔸Healthy Eating: Pack nutritious snacks and lunches to keep energy levels up throughout the day. 🔸Stay Alert: Remind your children to be aware of their surroundings and report anything unusual to a teacher or guardian. 🔸Safe Commute: Whether walking, biking, or taking the bus, ensure your child knows the safest routes and follows traffic rules. 🔸 Stranger Danger: Remind children not to talk to strangers and to stay with a group whenever possible. 🔸 Emergency Contact: Make sure your child knows their emergency contact information and how to reach you if needed. 🔸 Remote Car Jamming: Beware of remote car jammers when dropping your children off at school. They target parents when walking their children to the gates. Double or triple check your locks before walking away from the car. Let's make the rest of the school year a fantastic one by staying safe. Have a great term, everyone! #backtoschool #SafetyFirst #schoolready #cdfheros #CDFcares #safercommunities #homeisafeeling Phangela Group

Good News Story. Safety Improvements Made to Pollock Pines Crosswalk Where Preschoolers Were Hit by Van In Pollock Pines, California, safety upgrades are underway to make the streets safer for everyone, especially young children. Over a year ago, a tragic accident occurred when five preschoolers were hit by a utility van while crossing Pony Express Trail near Oak Street on a school field trip. This alarming incident highlighted the need for better pedestrian safety measures in the area. Now, thanks to efforts by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, significant safety improvements are being made. Rapid flash crosswalks have been installed near the site of the accident, along with three others on Pony Express Trail, to alert drivers and protect pedestrians. These upgrades are part of a broader project approved in October 2023, which also includes improved sidewalks, better bike and pedestrian access, and enhanced ADA accessibility. Residents and local leaders, such as those from the Pollock Pines Elementary School district, welcome these much-needed changes, believing they will make a real difference in keeping families and students safe. With the new school year starting, these enhancements aim to provide a safer environment for children and the community. https://lnkd.in/gDhqnU9G #schoolsecurity #schoolsafety
