The #ViksitBharatSankalpYatra, a monumental initiative by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has left an indelible mark on India, engaging a staggering 15 crore participants in just two months. This people's movement signifies a unified commitment towards a thriving and inclusive nation. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Yatra embodies "Jan Bhagidari," fostering public participation by deploying IEC vans to disseminate knowledge about government schemes, sustainable farming, healthcare, sanitation, and financial independence. The momentum surged notably in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, propelling participation from 2.06 crore to a remarkable 15 crore by January 17, 2024. Health camps have screened over 4 crore people, with more than 2 crore Ayushman Bharat health cards issued for accessible healthcare. The Yatra's tangible impact is evident as Gram Panchayats achieve 100% saturation for Ayushman Cards, 'Har Ghar Jal' brings clean water to 79,000 Panchayats, and digitization secures land records in 1.38 Lakh Panchayats. Beyond statistics, the Yatra nurtures a shared dream of an India where progress and prosperity touch every doorstep, translating development into empowered lives. This is Nature Based Solution of small and marginal farmers with their fragmented lànd holding also to reducing green house gases effect with green idea. The main problem of implementation is 69%farmers hold less than one acre of fragmented lànd holding . for implementation we need financial help

The use of scalable, configurable, and open-source technology is enhancing productivity and incomes for smallholder farmers. PARTNERS' UPDATE Small initiatives with huge impact: CRUSADE has been implementing the health programme for many years to strengthen its impact on communities. One of the impactful works under their health programme is promoting ‘Village Health Committees’ (VHCs) which focus on common health and environmental issues within the Panchayats, comprising two/three villages. In the first phase of implementation, CRUSADE has promoted about 12 VHCs spread across the four blocks of Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu- Sholavaram, Minjur, Gummidipoondi, and Ellapuram. Under Action Village India's ‘Partnership Solidarity Fund, CRUSADE has extended support to 12 Village Health Committees to help them plan and implement tangible actions that directly or indirectly promote public health in the villages. #RashtriyaMahilaKisanDiwas, celebrated on October 15, honors the important role of women in agriculture and their contributions to the rural economy. Across India, women are excelling in both traditional farming and innovative, sustainable methods. In today's society, both men and women are working tirelessly to drive the economy forward. In recent years the number of women working in different fields has also increased including Agriculture, Manufacturing, Industrial sector, Service sector and many more. According to a report by Statista, 64.3% of the agricultural workers and 11.1% of the manufacturing workers are women. Maharashtra is the leading state in which rural women are contributing the most in agriculture, it’s around 88.46%. Followed by Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu are some other states with a large share of female farmers in agriculture. To recognize the hard work and contribution of female farmers in agriculture and its allied sectors, our country celebrates ‘Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Diwas’ every year on October 15.

Beed district in Maharashtra, home to around 30 lakh people, faced a grim reality in April: 59 farmers took their own lives. That's an average of two lives lost every day. Similarly, in the Marathwada region, 267 farmers succumbed to the same tragic fate during the same period. These numbers highlight a profound crisis within the agricultural sector, marked by debt, crop failures, and a lack of support systems. What's deeply concerning is the apparent lack of attention from political parties and voters alike, even during the election season. The plight of these farmers seems to have been overshadowed by other political agendas, leaving their cries for help unheard and unaddressed. Moreover, a recent incident at a rally addressed by a popular leader raises serious questions about leadership priorities. When a citizen dared to inquire about the plummeting onion prices, a critical concern for farmers, he was swiftly escorted away by the police. The leader continued the speech without acknowledging the pressing question. This raises a pertinent question: What kind of example are our leaders setting? Dismissing the urgent concerns of the populace not only deepens the chasm between the governed and the governing but also perpetuates a culture of neglect and apathy. It's imperative for our leaders to recognize the gravity of the situation and prioritize the welfare of our farmers. The agricultural community forms the backbone of our nation, employing around 46% of our population. Beyond livelihoods, they play a pivotal role in making our nation food and nutrition secure. Their well-being should be a non-negotiable priority. Next in our series on the Rural Agenda events, we highlight a key topic that emerged in our discussions with rural citizens: climate change. Climate change is already a lived reality for many. For farmers especially, the increasingly unpredictable weather in the past few years has been a major concern. In 2023, mango and sugarcane crops in UP were affected by intense summer #heat. In the same year, farmers in Odisha and Meghalaya faced unusually heavy #rainfall that damaged crops and caused soil erosion. Farmers also noted that #pest attacks have increased and pests are often breeding at unusual times. They believed that effective crop #insurance and government support for #naturalfarming are crucial in helping them tackle this crisis. . . . . . Rural Voice and Socratus Foundation for Collective Wisdom have organized a series of discussions on ‘Agenda for Rural India’. A first of its kind #nationwide exercise, this series aimed to construct a comprehensive rural agenda based on the challenges and aspirations of rural #citizens. These gatherings involved over 300 participants from 60 districts of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Meghalaya, including farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, women’s SHGs, migrants and youth.
