Through targeted training programmes, CEI is empowering tribal women and women from economically backward sections, fostering economic activities aligned with their interests within Self-Help Groups (SHGs)... across remote tribal villages in Raigad, Maharashtra, and economically disadvantaged regions in rural Madhya Pradesh. SHGs, often comprising members from homogenous socio-economic backgrounds, are becoming catalysts for change in these rural areas. CEI recognises the pivotal role these groups play in the socio-economic development of society. By promoting activities driven by local skillsets, SHGs become integral components of awareness and participation, bringing about tangible benefits to the local communities. CEI goes beyond training; it is implementing diverse entrepreneurship development initiatives. From Ayurvedic Vanaspati, organic farming, textiles, to livestock promotion and fisheries, CEI is empowering below poverty line men and women in rural areas. We are delighted to announce that InFED has launched the Wardhini Cluster Accelerator Program; a key step in our mission to empower local SHGs, in line with the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY - NRLM) Our journey began with detailed diagnostics sessions for each cluster, ensuring precise alignment of our program with their specific challenges. Via rigorous SWOT analyses and gap assessments, we formulated targeted intervention strategies designed to address their unique needs. Throughout the program, we focused on complete capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitive positioning of participating clusters. This approach has equipped them with the necessary tools to unlock their full growth potential and effectively meet evolving market demands. Key achievements of the Wardhini Cluster Accelerator Program include -  1. enhanced market preparedness 2. strengthened competitive positioning 3. the transformation of clusters into robust growth engines. Today, I met Prof SP Singh Baghel, Minister of State in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Minister of State in the Department Of Panchayati Raj. He is the Member of Parliament from Agra Uttar Pradesh, my state. I had the honour of presenting him my book, "Sashakt Panchayat: Samriddha Bharat Ki Sankalpana." I explained Empower Panchayat initiative as quick as I could be! How development can stem from the panchayat is they start working as an institution. The Gram Sabha and Standing Committee are the institutions. The major issue is that, in 32 years, Panchayats haven't received the power over the 29 subjects granted by the Constitution. The reason why the power has not been devolved is because of the lack of competence and capabilities to work as an institution. For instance, if an education model is about to take off, its budgetary estimation, or if a renewable energy plan is about to initiate, its engineering design, or if an economic activity like a food processing unit is about to be established, whatever its requisites are, has to be drawn from these 29 subjects. Empower Panchayat is an initiative that aims to build competence and capabilities in rural India in partnership with major institutions like IITs and IIMs and other entrepreneurship organizations. If we talk about the Panchayati Raj, we can divide the 29 subjects into four parts. First, the earning opportunities we have discussed above. Secondly, the access to basic amenities. Third, foundational infrastructure that is required for both the earning opportunities and the basic amenities. Fourth, social protection is also essential to ensure that a section that includes the handicapped, widows, elderly, and other poor and vulnerable cohorts is not left behind and everyone collaborates to realize the idea of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vikas”. I am glad that Shri SP Singh Baghel Ji appreciated the ideas, and I am hopeful for future collaboration to work towards inclusive rural development with Empower Panchayat. Laxmipriya's initiatives in agricultural empowerment have equipped farmers with skills in Arhar dal and Azolla farming, leading to increased productivity and income generation, which is crucial for sustainable rural livelihoods. Her commitment to community engagement has revitalized local governance, with participation in Palli Sabha and Gram Sabha meetings soaring from 10% to 50%. This increased involvement fosters more inclusive decision-making, ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and acted upon. In the realm of social welfare, Laxmipriya's efforts have led to a 20% rise in vaccination coverage, crucial for preventing disease outbreaks and safeguarding public health. The 30% reduction in malnutrition rates means healthier children who can achieve their full potential. Additionally, a 40% increase in school attendance translates to better education outcomes, opening doors to future opportunities for the youth. Laxmipriya’s work exemplifies the power of grassroots leadership and the importance of empowering communities to shape their own futures, contributing to the broader goals of national development. Training villagers to measure change: How tech + community are transforming rural India 💧📲 W-CReS teamed up with the Rotary Club of Poona to train locals in Akole and Ambegaon on using ODK (Open Data Kit) to assess the impact of  'A Rural Watershed and Natural Resources Development Project' in Akole (Ahmednagar district) and Ambegaon block (Pune district). Local field enumerators were chosen from the community who will play an important role in conducting impact evaluations of various interventions undertaken in the project region. Using ODK, the following benefits will be realised: -- Easier Impact assessments – Now villagers can track project results on water management, Adoption of #sustainable farming practices, and more.  -- The power of local knowledge – Community members gather the data, bringing real-world insights. -- Data-driven progress – Better #evaluation = better programs = greater impact! 📈 With the successful conclusion of this training, the team is now well-equipped to undertake the pivotal task of evaluating the project's impact. The enhanced clarity and confidence gained by the participants in data collection processes will ensure a robust and insightful evaluation process moving forward. Various farmers’ welfare schemes by the Central Government such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi #PMKISAN, Kisan Credit Card #KCC Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana #PMFBY, Soil Health Card Scheme, e-NAM (National Agriculture Market), and Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan #PMAASHA have instilled a new confidence in them over the years. These schemes have enabled us to deal with problems of water security, soil degradation, climate change, outdated farming practices, lack of infrastructure, market access, and credit and finance issues head on. Exploring grassroots impact: Surveying a village for Swachh and Suposhan Bharat initiatives. Every step counts towards a cleaner and healthier nation. #Swachh Bharat #Suposhan Bharat #CommunityEngagement" The Faculty of Commerce and Management, United University, Prayagraj successfully organised a Survey named *पोषण व स्वच्छता जागरूकता मूल्यांकन अभियान* on 14th March, 2024. The survey was conducted to find out about the awareness and to promote hygiene and sanitation practices in village areas. The success of the campaign was the active involvement of students and the villagers. Villagers were asked questions related to cleanliness, nutrition and their livelihoods like proper waste disposal, health status etc. 103 students participated in survey and collected data of more than 200 respondents. The completion of the campaign in village area has yielded remarkable results. It exemplifies the power of collective action and community engagement in driving positive change. Recently, I had the privilege of traveling to the Sambhar district of Rajasthan for the #ImpactAssessment of the “Paani Se Kushali” and “Animal Husbandry project” for Chrysalis Services . This initiative, particularly focused on women's empowerment, aims to create sustainable livelihoods and self-sufficient income sources for women in the region. Sambhar faces severe water scarcity with low groundwater levels and high fluoride content, making it unsuitable for both agriculture and drinking. This unique challenge requires tailored solutions. This impactful project was spearheaded not by the government but by the #RajasthanRoyalFoundation in collaboration with #GramChetnaKendra, a local NGO working on the social and economic upliftment of women and children. One of the key strengths of this project is its foundation on well-researched and locally developed solutions. These projects address local issues more effectively, a fact highlighted when we interviewed the local tehsildar, who acknowledged that NGOs are often better aware of the problems than regional government officials. Some of Key implementations during the project: #SHGFormation: Women are organized into Self-Help Groups, trained in financial management, and encouraged to save and manage their own accounts, promoting financial independence. #SustainableAgriculture: Beneficiaries receive fruit trees and Vermicompost, enabling additional income through fruit sales and reducing fertilizer costs. #AnimalHusbandry: Microloans for cattle purchase allow women to earn an average of 5-6k INR monthly. These initiatives showcase the potential of civil society organizations and CSR to drive social upliftment, especially where state capacity is limited. Collaboration between NGOs, foundations, local communities, educational institutions, and regional experts who understand the social, economic, political, and climatic aspects can lead to more efficient and effective solutions. This holistic approach not only addresses women's empowerment but also contributes significantly to regional and social development, environmental sustainability, and overall community well-being. It serves as a model for tackling complex, region-specific challenges through targeted, collaborative efforts.
