The session delved into emerging technologies, market-based regulatory instruments, and the challenges of unlocking carbon capture across sectors. Key Takeaways: 📍Complementary Approaches: Engineered solutions like CCUS and nature-based solutions (NBS) work together in carbon removal. #Tolsa keeps delving into its commitment on Sustainability. Commitment means facts and these come from actions. Check what actions for #sustainability have been deployed by TOLSA in 2023 in our IV Sustainability Report. They were focused on getting, by the first time ever in the country, the most exigent principles on #Sustainable-Mining in Senegal, on bringing #Ecodesign into every new product and on strengthening our commitment with local #Communities.

Bord na Móna has completed its transition from a fossil fuel company that emitted between 5-10M tonnes or CO2 in the mid 2000s to a fully carbon neutral company in 2024. In that transition, the company has had to make really difficult decisions which saw 100s of colleagues leave the company, but it was necessary to protect the future of the company, our communities and the climate. Today is another special day for BNM with our 3rd Annual Accelerate Green conference, where together with Resolve Partners, we invest and support growth and early stage companies to refine business propositions, create pathways to new customers and in many cases use the solutions from the companies in our day to day operations. So, what has the programme achieved in numbers so far: 1️⃣ 42 companies have come thru the programme to date in a range of sectors from renewable electricity, to recycling, carbon sequestration and accounting, food and beverage, EVs and mobility and many many more sectors that are helping impact positively on climate change. 2️⃣ Those companies have generated over 500 jobs since participating in the programme. 3️⃣ The companies that have come thru the programme have collectively raise over €10M in venture capital after participating. 4️⃣ Over 25 people from the BNM business have since gone on to start their own companies and scale their ideas into new businesses. Bord na Mona's transition has not been easy, but this has been a wonderful success story and shows how we can support businesses in Ireland in a different way.
