Discover the paper “Atlas of ozone chemical regimes in Europe”, just published in Atmospheric Environment by #Concawe and INERIS. While concentrations of most #AirPollutants have been decreasing in Europe over the last 20 years, O3 is showing variable trends, with increasing average and decreasing peak concentrations. The complexity of O3 chemistry adds to the difficulty of understanding both the trends observed and how concentrations can be mitigated. This paper tries to answer the following questions: which emission sectors should be targeted and what levels of reduction could be achieved? To address these, an Atlas of #O3 chemical regimes has been constructed. For this Atlas, 22 European cities were selected and the surrogate model Air Control Toolbox #ACT was used to evaluate the simulated changes in several #ozone metrics as a result of reductions in road transport and industrial emissions. O3 chemical regimes have been classified and put in perspective with meteorological and emission data at each city location and around. The complexity of O3 is highlighted from the findings of the study as the results show that O3 sensitivity to road transport and industrial emissions differ from one city to another, but also for the same city when considering different ozone metrics and seasons (e.g. annual means versus SOMO35 or summer peaks). The super computer model shows the carbon concentration in different months of 2006 in the global atmosphere . The concentration of CO2 is highest in March-April and lowest is found in June-July. The concentration of CO2 is directly related to the carbon sequestration and carbon desertification phenomena. In the months of March- April, there occurs a high number of tillage activities worldwide, which leads to loss and upward movement of the carbon from soil. This is one of the major reasons for higher CO2 concentration during the given month. Many parts of the world are full of grasses, plants and crops which help in sequesterization of atmospheric carbon to the plant parts in the month of June-July. Out of the total sequestrated carbon , 40% carbon is transferred to the rhizospheric region ( root parts). These reserved carbon is then utilized by soil microbes which helps in absorption of various minerals and nutrients. Hence, in this way, the atmospheric Carbon dioxide is maintained by our mother earth. And , we must first be aware about the consequences of barren land( without vegetation) before trying to reduce global CO2 emission in the atmosphere. In order to continue the development of artificial refrigerant materials in connection with the global increase in earth temperature and climate change. So of course, one option to make it safer for the environment is to offer a natural refrigerant that does not contain the elements Cl and F in its chemical structure, namely HC (hydrocarbon) refrigerant and the GWP index price has been stated = 0.02 for R-290. It can be stated in the future that: Based on the academic hypothesis, hydrocarbon refrigerants can replace artificial refrigerants, as long as the refrigerant is used in a closed system with a vapor compression cycle.

#GEOMARNews | Emissions of nitrous oxide (#N2O) – a greenhouse gas with a stronger effect than carbon dioxide or methane – have continued to increase from 1980 to 2020. In 2020, more than 10 million tonnes of nitrous oxide were released into the atmosphere, primarily due to agricultural practices and the ocean. This is the conclusion of a new report by the Global Carbon Project, for which #GEOMAR researchers provided crucial oceanic data. Synchronized atmospheric display of CO2 and CH4 from January to September, 2020 (lower layer, daily), GOSAT The analysis of video content is still pending, but early indications suggest a significant impact of carbon dioxide absorption by forests. This effect is notably pronounced during the Southern Hemisphere's summer, observed not only in the Amazon during its summer but also in the unexpected contributors of Siberian and Canadian forests. Additionally, methane gas levels seem to rise during the season of rice field cultivation, particularly in eastern China and the Bengal region. The utilized R program is outlined in my YouTube posting, focusing on the manipulation of monthly files after the creation of intermediate files. There is a desire to compile this knowledge into a dissemination tool such as a know-how book.  The data is presented in a daily resolution of 1 second, allowing users to estimate dates approximately using a timer or similar tools. The analysis spans from January 1st to September 30th, covering a total of 274 days (considering the leap year of 2020). The hope is that this information proves valuable and contributes to the promotion of understanding and awareness. Sharing this knowledge and programming approach could potentially benefit those interested in climate research and environmental science.
