Why is it important to embrace your disability? Embracing disability empowers individuals by fostering a sense of pride and resilience. It encourages self-acceptance and helps individuals recognize their unique strengths and contributions. This empowerment can lead to greater confidence, advocacy, and a more inclusive society which can improve the rights and lives of persons with disabilities.

💡Why #ChildrenInNeed is problematic for the disabled community? We don’t need pity handouts nor want them from strangers who then perpetuate the notion that our lives are tragedy, rather leglitive reform so our governments held accountable for an equitable world ! In fact, our very own disability discrimination act now the equality act 2010 was founded on the premise that disabled people don’t need. Pity, we need tangible change. If you want to know more about how this came about, I urge you all to watch the drama ’Then Barbra Met Alan’. 💡 Think about this - what other program asks minors to disclose their medical history, publicly on national television in order for strangers to give them money for equipment or resources that should be easily and readily available from local authorities and in legislation such as wheelchairs, respite or family support? Do I believe that children in need has helped millions of children to date? Absolutely, and I have been one of the recipients as a child. But it doesn’t mean that we can’t change how we orchestrate society and put an end to systemic ableism. #Equity #EquityMatters #PityPorn #DisabilityAwareness
