The longer a person lives with #leprosy, the more likely it is to cause permanent disability. Leprosy can cause blindness and paralysis because of nerve damage. It might even lead to amputation, usually due to serious infections in parts of the body like the hands and feet. All of this is avoidable, however, if the disease is caught and treated early. The best way to quickly find and diagnose NTDs like leprosy is through community health checks. We work with partners to provide these health checks in hard-to-reach areas, so diseases do not progress further without treatment.
