#tech #careers Laid-Off Tech Workers Aren't Taking Unemployment Well! Over 130,000 tech workers have lost their jobs in 2024 at bellwether companies like Cisco and Intel. That's on top of the 263,000 that were laid off in 2023. It's only natural then that the competition for available jobs is fierce. What makes matters even more difficult is that the hiring process is taking longer, and it's becoming more complex with the use of AI screeners and difficult technical interviews that test an applicant's problem-solving and coding skills. https://lnkd.in/dTKr9A8H?

New tech employment data suggests that 2024 is already off to a promising start. According to the latest #JobsReport, tech companies added nearly 18,000 workers in February (the second consecutive month of job growth). You can learn more on our YouTube channel from CompTIA Chief Research Officer Tim Herbert as he discusses the numbers and what they mean to the industry with Andrea McMillian. #tech #techcareers #hiring #ai #employment https://lnkd.in/e4xnweBB

Several tech sector heavyweights have indicated their intention to eliminate bachelor's degree requirements in recent years. IBM is now the largest American technology corporation in terms of employment. Only 29% of its job advertisements in information technology (IT) mention a degree requirement. This opens up more chances for those without a degree or with degrees in unrelated subjects. The next essay examines opportunities for you to enter the tech business, regardless of your professional or educational experience. Every industry has entry-level positions. They usually demand the least amount of training or expertise. Entry-level employment is appropriate for individuals who are new to a career field or who are transitioning into a similar role. People frequently associate "tech entry-level jobs" with software developers, programmers, and other coding-related professions. Many entry-level tech occupations fall into this group. Here are 5 to look out for in 2024: https://lnkd.in/dtPNfqsN #LetASisterKnow #WomeninTech

Workers under 25 hold 41% of tech jobs. Is Gen Z taking over tech? The U.S. EEOC analyzed 10 million tech workers… Just under half were aged 25 or under. 25 and under! But that’s only 33% of the workforce. So, what’s happening? Either people are transferring to other industries... or hiring preferences skew young. Regardless, here’s what you can do about it: 1. Only work for companies that value your experience 2. Remove all graduation dates from your resume 3. Replace all pictures of you with your (slightly) younger self 4. Upskill to in-demand technical skills using online classes 5. Transition to self-employment What would you add? #HiringTrends #TechnologyJobs #ResumeTips

Answers: https://lnkd.in/g_Tw4kgu #TechTrends #CompSciDegree #FutureOfTech Hey there, tech enthusiasts! 🌟 Have you ever wondered how long it really takes for a field like computer science to bounce back after a massive downturn, like the Dot Com Bubble? Well, it turns out it took a solid **12 years** for the number of computer science graduates to fully recover! Let’s dive into those numbers: | Year | # of CS Grads | | --- | --- | | 2003 | 48,000 | | 2004 | 47,000 | | 2005 | 42,000 | | 2006 | 35,000 | | 2007 | 31,000 | | 2008 | 28,000 | | 2009 | 28,000 | | 2010 | 29,000 | | 2011 | 31,000 | | 2012 | 35,000 | | 2013 | 39,000 | | 2014 | 42,000 | | 2015 | 49,000 | So, why does it take so long for computer science graduates to bounce back after tech recessions? Here are a few key pain points: **Economic Shifts**: Tech recessions can lead job cuts, which often deter students from pursuing a degree in computer science. 📉 **Market Saturation**: Even when grad numbers drop, companies may not hire as aggressively, cr...

"There is always a need for constant mentorship and guidance to the early Engineers at work" Initial 2-5 years is to build the career and that's the utmost priority. When the org fails to treat their young engineers, they eventually, 📍lost at work. 📍search for alternatives. 📍fail to grow as an engineer. 📍fight for focus and unnecessary things. That's a pure mutual damage for the engineer as well as the organisation. Therefore, it's a high time to choose the company or a team on considering the term "CULTURE" Follow Gunashekar Chenna for more such insightful shares🙌🏻 #linkedIn #freshershiring #softwareengineer #worklifebalance #earlycareers #dataengineering #genai #opentowork

Are companies still hiring junior and mid-level engineers in these times that are challenging even for seniors? People have to get experience from somewhere, but it could be that the tight job market plus years of title inflation have made early career recruitment obsolete. If it’s the case, it’s going to be devastating for engineering culture within companies and more broadly. It also means those in such roles right now should keep their eye on the prize: code every day, volunteer for challenging projects, get noticed, and get promoted. Inflated or not, titles remain job search currency. Comment, and tell me I’m totally wrong: I would be delighted. #careers #tech Addendum: something something AI.
