Proof that eventually we don't do this life alone. Every life has impact and value. This is a little story about Leon Russell who was inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. If you don't know who he was, he was a serious session musician and solo singer/songwriter. Russell collaborated with many notable artists and recorded at least 𝟯𝟭 𝗮𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗺𝘀 and 𝟰𝟯𝟬 𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀. He was a musician's musician, but not everything in life goes as planned. I will spare you the entire story. The video is set at 7:00, when he accepts the award and explains a bit, but you can watch the entire 11:33 minutes if you desire; it's good. There was no high energy to gleam from, just a guy needing some love after very hard times. The business books would have you always believe, don't waste your time hanging around those that can't do something for you or don't have super positive vibes to offer. Those philosophies are trash, flaming hot garbage, and will make you into your own worst enemy. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁: Elton John who is a major secular music legend, did not have to do this. He made a choice to honor a friend and not himself, this shows us that humanity runs deep in our veins. When we decide to help others out of the muck. There are unintended results that have huge positive impacts for a long time to come. While zooming along SLEX today on my way home, I got to thinking about Meryl Streep. She's one of the most celebrated actors in the world, considered by many to be a top-tier talent. Imagine a movie where she is on a smaller supporting role - would she be less effective, give an inferior performance because it's not the lead part? I don't think so. Meryl Streep is Meryl Streep. No one can change that. Relating that to one's roles in an organization, you don't have to be in the lead role to be the considered the best. If you're good, it will show in whatever role you play.
