Cadeler confirms that it has placed an order to build its third state-of-the-art A-class wind farm installation vessel. This will be the eleventh vessel in Cadeler’s fleet. We have already signed firm contracts and entered a long-term agreement with Ørsted for our first A-class vessel from 2027 to 2030 and we are in advanced contract negotiations to secure capacity from our second A-class.” The P- and A-class vessels are built in close cooperation with Cadeler’s strategic partners, which include GustoMSC, NOV, Kongsberg Maritime, Huisman and MAN Energy Solutions. Nooteboom has launched the new Mega Windmill Trailer XXL (MWT-XXL), enhancing its offering for the transport of large wind turbine components. The MWT-XXL features advanced adjustability, allowing for the transport of tower sections with diameters ranging from 2850mm to 6100mm, along with turbine nacelles. The trailer’s design includes a double, hydraulically height-adjustable A-frame and a unique three-point clamping system, enabling quick loading and unloading without the need for cranes. Dutch national grid operator TenneT TSO B.V. has completed the #onshore work for the #connection of the Hollandse Kust (noord), (west Alpha) and (west Beta) #offshore #windfarms in the IJmond region in the western part of the Netherlands. Mammoet’s team was approached to assist in receiving and setting components of a 414 MW thermoelectric generation plant called Manzanillo Power Land, located in the Dominican Republic. This gas-fired facility is one of three new power plants being developed near Manzanillo. Upon arrival at the site, Mammoet’s crew positioned the heavier components using a 700t gantry system. The heaviest item received, a 317t gas turbine generator, was first skidded about 18 meters (59 ft.) before being installed using the gantry on its foundation. 𝐈𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦, 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐚 Belgian company Parkwind has successfully tested an innovative new charging system that allows ships to receive power directly at sea without having to enter port. The system was deployed at the Nobelwind wind farm located 47 kilometers offshore. The power plant consists of 50 turbines and provides energy to about 190,000 households. The charging process is fully automated: it is enough to bring the ship to a special cable and wait for the automatic connection. During the tests, one of the CTV ships was successfully charged. Team members do not need to interact with the wires, which greatly simplifies the procedure. Currently, the charging station, located in the North Sea, delivers 2 MW of power to CTV vessels and up to 8 MW to local utility vehicles engaged in wind turbine maintenance. According to Parkwind, the system can also power the electrical systems of conventional vessels at sea. All electrical cables are placed in a surface position, which completely eliminates damage during mooring and battery charging.
