Why did you want to be part of the #HelloStavanger journey? When Thomas Bærheim reached out to me in September about establishing a conference centered around the life-cycle of running code, I felt a surge of excitement! This concept addressed a gap I had long noticed. Stavanger and the western region of Norway are brimming with talent and innovation, yet these achievements often remain under the radar. The prospect of showcasing our region as a powerhouse in technology across Norway was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. 2. What's got you counting down the days with excitement for the event? I’m eagerly anticipating the gathering of professionals from various industries, all united by a common passion for technology. The opportunity to network and learn new, exciting things is thrilling. I’m particularly excited to discover the hidden gems of expertise and innovation in our region that I’m not yet aware of. At Speexx, remote and hybrid work models have been the new normal for a while now. But like many companies, we spend a lot of time thinking about how company culture can thrive when there are less "water-cooler moments". Our main take-away: you need to create and encourage opportunities for employees to meet and connect in person. Which is precisely why we have company off-sites, workshops, local events, team events etc. So of course when Oktoberfest is on our doorstep, in the German business unit we seize the opportunity to come together to strengthen relationships, foster team spirit, and remind ourselves that, no matter where we work, it's the people collaborating in teams that drive our success. It's moments like our Octoberfest team event yesterday that keep us connected and aligned, fueling collaboration and growth (although perhaps less so, the day after ;)). It's Xmas do time at Kitto Towers this week. Exciting times, as our teams look to tear up both Leeds and Manila. Last year, the Christmas do consisted of Alex Theaker and me. We didn't quite know what was to come in the next 12 months, but here we are, with a team of ELEVEN. HOWEVER, big reflection post, this is not. It's actually a looking towards 2025 post in disguise. If you're sat looking at your 2025 marketing plan, or giving it some thought then I'd like to give some of my thought, too. I'm going to open up my calendar for a few hours in mid December to do some 45 minute strategy calls with companies to talk about next year. We can: 💭 Q&A (you Q, I A) 💭 Q&A (I Q, you A) 💭 Look at what you're already doing/ have done/ want to do 💭 Come up with ideas for new content for next year 💭 Discuss your product/ service and how to make it stand out 💭 Talk about tech stack, alignment and if that's fit for purpose Or anything else. Other things I like to talk about include football, music and, increasingly, running. Two years ago today, I had the privilege of visiting Cognex Corporation Natick to understand their needs and collaboration.
