A couple of weeks ago I was asked to be part of a thought leadership webinar for Ramboll Global on accelerating decarbonisation of the built environment. I presented the 3 main trends we see appearing in Sweden. * Collaboration in supply chains * System perspective and sustainable mobility * Innovation and multi-function I discussed how we are using design thinking and lean start up processses to create the best most holistic solutions and that it is great that we see procurements projects like TSK70 Innovation project to connect Ramboll across countries and markets and our combined ecosystems to bring the knowledge and know how to our client. But also the barriers we see to working in a different way and how to overcome these. I had a few comments afterwards if this was really possible in ”real life”. Then today reiterating the value of supply chain collaboration I have the most fabulous day with the DigiRail team at the Volvo construction test site. To quote Einstein we can’t solve the problems of the past with the same thinking. We have to be innovative and this is most effective in collaboration. If we are going to transport goods and people sustainably and effectively we need to maintain our degrading railways more effectively and design new railways based on our knowledge of performance and data. Digirail is a collaboration of: Research (FCC) Ballast producer (NCC industry) Construction truck manufakturer (Volvo construction) Compaction plant manufacturer (Dynopak) Railway investment and asset owner (Trafikverket) Contractor (NCC) Consultant (Ramboll) Where we collectively put our heads together and try to solve the problems with current design and maintanence strategies and doing things differently. So many insights coming from this cross industry team not least lots of great input to our TSK 70 project and its innovation streams within electric construction sites, digital construction, autonoma construction and decarbonising road construction. So once again projects and ecosystems connect and ”fertilise” each other and I found myself in the middle of my own recommendation to Ramboll. Our industry doesn’t need us to have all the answers our industry needs us to be Spiders in the web and connecting the dots. Or what is your view? How do you see we can accelerate decarbonisation? Wassim Daoud, Head of CSR and Sustainability at PONANT, presented "Shipbuilding Insights on Product Design and Downstream Scope 3 Emission Reduction" at the conference. His presentation focused on how Ponant integrates sustainable design practices into their shipbuilding processes to minimize environmental impacts effectively. Daoud explored the critical role of lifecycle assessments in understanding and reducing the environmental footprint of shipbuilding. Less than 5 kg/m2/year - showing the path towards netzero Three years of dedicated design- and explorative innovation has come to and end: Finally we can share our Earth Shot project in the North Harbor, Copenhagen. We have created a 6 floor/13.000 m2 residential pushing the standards for super-low carbon emission buildings. The constrains have been high doing resi in dense urban areas with an exiting zoning plan. We start building next week. Three cultural principals has been our driving force: 1. Partnership and Open Source = We are sharing all insights of this project. 2. Tested and proven prototypes = working with the most forward leaning suppliers 3.
