In our #EACL2024 paper 'Scaling up Discovery of Latent Concepts in Deep NLP Models', we found that applying a simple, classical method like K-Means to transformer embedding spaces could allow scaling latent concept discovery beyond word-level and into large language models. Large language models (LLMs) like FinBERT can have significant applications in the corporate landscape.  Using a deep learning-based NLP approach (FinBERT), this paper aims to examine the impact of manager sentiment on the firm performance of Indian-listed nonfinancial firms. In the context of India, this paper perhaps the first attempt to capture Managerial Sentiment through the FinBERT application in the management discussions and analysis (MD&A) section of annual report.
