Adding the “thinking” feature in ChatGPT O1 is groundbreaking. Let’s break it down: There are two critical aspects of efficiency: Speed and Thinking. Initial models of ChatGPT mainly focused on providing fast output, even if it sometimes hallucinated. However, with the new O1 model, OpenAI is trying to focus on the other aspect of efficiency, which is thinking. As we all know, compute is one of the biggest bottlenecks GenAI companies face right now. Combining speed and thinking in a single model is going to be really compute-heavy. It will be interesting to see how GenAI companies implement it. #OpenAI
