Services are available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Diné, and Vietnamese.   Since 1991, the NMHealth Breast and Cervical Cancer program (BCC) has provided 211,250 mammograms and diagnosed 1,873 invasive breast cancers. Thank you to our dedicated providers for their commitment to fighting breast cancer! Midwifery is rooted in the past but essential to the future. Scaling up midwifery could help reduce adverse health outcomes and lead to a brighter tomorrow! Celebrate and support midwives during #MidwiferyWeek2024 as we look into the future together. New Mexico is home to one of the top-ranked midwifery education programs in the United States at the UNM College of Nursing. New Mexico is also home to the Changing Woman Initiative - a national renowned Indigenous-led community birth practice model created by Nicole Arthun, MSN, CNM, RN, FACNM. Two types of midwives are licensed by NMHealth: · Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) are independent practitioners educated in the disciplines of midwifery and nursing. CNMs practice in all settings, including hospitals, clinics, and other community entities. · Licensed Midwives (LMs) are independent practitioners educated in midwifery either through an accredited education program or a traditional apprenticeship model. Shout out to our NE Region team Famika, Andrea, Audry, Karen, Gerardo, Cruz, and Tony! They visited the 32nd Annual Zia Gay Rodeo at the Santa Fe Rodeo Grounds last month and distributed 116 doses of naloxone, 36-gun safety locks, as well as other health supplies like toothbrushes and dental floss. Southwest Care Center (SCC) was also at the event offering rapid HIV testing.
