Thank you to everyone who came out to the #WorldBreastfeedingWeek event at the Otero County Public Health Office on Thursday!
The event, which was open to the public and WIC participants, featured 8 community agencies including HELPNew Mexico, Inc., COPE Center of Protective Environment, Dandelion Birth & Beyond, LLC, Otero County Community Health Council & Behavioral Health LC 12, 100% Otero, Holloman Family Advocacy and New Parent Support Programs, the New Mexico Breastfeeding Task Force, and Otero County Public Health Office programs (Families First and Childrens Medical Services).
Our vendors provided a variety of resources and giveaways in addition to free WIC bags filled with goodies for nursing mothers. Roses were also presented to all breastfeeding moms courtesy of Albertsons Market.
Our WIC team presented a demonstration using WIC foods and served delicious egg, cheese, and salsa breakfast tacos to participants. Pastries and water were donated by the Inn of the Mountain Gods and fresh fruit and granola bars were available for children.
We had a fantastic time serving our community alongside our wonderful partners! WIC locations will continue to host World Breastfeeding events at all statewide WIC locations.
