There are many reasons why you should invest in NMF, these are our top two: 1. Advance excellence in medicine—and a new generation of physician leaders. 2. Deliver excellent care to ALL communities by building a more equitable health care system. Invest in NMF at notyourtypicaltuesday.org 🌟 Your gift to NMF helps build a new generation of health care leaders, who will bring excellence to all areas of medicine, clinical research, and public health. NMF has supported generations of leaders whose impact is felt today — in medical practice, academic medicine, clinical research, and leadership of hospitals and other health care institutions. NMF supports Black, Indigenous, Latine, and People of Color medical students who are statistically more likely than others to practice in chronically underserved communities, and amplify the voices that currently exist, but are marginalized in our health care system. #InvestInNMF #HealthEquity #NMFCares #GivingTuesday

NMF is proud to honor Dr. Marco Angulo with the 2024 NMF Excellence in Medical Education Award at our "This Time, This Place - Los Angeles" gala! ✨ As Medical Director of Medical Education at AltaMed Health Services, Dr. Angulo has made remarkable strides in training physicians to serve underserved communities in Southern California. His innovative work has touched numerous programs such as the Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC) as a director and former participant. PRIME-LC has been critical to developing physician leaders to address health disparities in the United States and beyond. In 2012, Dr. Angulo created the Health Scholars Program, one of the largest volunteer/clinical experience programs in Orange County dedicated to closing gaps in care and helping patients more effectively navigate the health care system. Throughout his career, Dr. Angulo has challenged the next generation of physician leaders to chip away at health disparities and develop solutions that lower barriers to patient care. Although our gala is sold out, you can still support NMF’s mission by donating! 👉 Invest in NMF: https://heyor.ca/1tN9tW #ThisTimeThisPlaceLA #NMFinLA #ExcellenceInMedicalEducation #HealthEquity #DonateNow Michellene Davis, Esq.,

As we close out Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month, NMF proudly celebrates the incredible contributions of Latine leaders in medicine. We are especially proud of our NMF alumni, whose dedication continues to advance health equity. Leaders like Dr. Ives “Tony” Valenzuela, a distinguished ophthalmologist researching glaucoma care for vulnerable populations, and Dr. Cindy Parra, a skilled dermatologist committed to patient-centered care, embody our mission. Dr. Miguel Knochel’s work in pediatrics, Dr. Odilon Alvarado’s decades of internal medicine service, and Dr. Jorge Garcia’s specialization in pediatric cardiology are also making significant impacts in their fields. These individuals are part of the less than 6% of Latine physicians in the U.S., representing the excellence, resilience, and dedication we celebrate during this month and beyond. Their work is crucial in creating a more inclusive and equitable future for health care. #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatineHeritageMonth #HealthEquity #DiversityInMedicine #NMFAlumni #AdvancingHealthEquity
