National Minority Quality Forum Action Network held a U.S. Senate briefing to discuss the potential for increased patient risk and decreased treatment flexibility if phosphate-lowering therapies are included in the bundle system. Speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining individualized care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for dialysis patients, cited lack of data suggesting improved patient outcomes with the inclusion of phosphate-lowering therapies in the bundle system, and highlighted the difficulties faced by kidney patients who already struggle to balance their dialysis sessions with hardships.
