In his latest piece for Forbes Technology Council, our CEO Sunil M Sanghavi shared his thoughts on how Science-Based AI can bridge the gap between regulatory and corporate interests. This is especially relevant as the EPA recently announced the first ever limits on two "forever chemicals" in water. Science-Based AI can not only help companies speed compliance with existing regulations, but it can also help companies find solutions to troublesome chemicals proactively. Corporate interests and consumer interests have traditionally been at odds when it comes to environmental regulations. While all involved parties may agree on sustainability and safety goals, achieving them and keeping in line with business goals is harder in reality. But that no longer has to be the case. I was happy to share my thoughts in my latest piece for Forbes Technology Council on how we can use AI to enable corporate compliance with regulations, and perhaps even use AI to find solutions to troublesome chemicals proactively. US, EU To Use AI To Seek Alternate Chemicals for Making Chips: The European Union and the US plan to enlist AI in the search for replacements to so-called forever chemicals that are prevalent in semiconductor manufacturing, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing a draft statement. From the report: The pledge forms part of the conclusions to this week's joint US-EU Trade and Technology Council taking place in Leuven, Belgium. "We plan to continue working to identify research cooperation opportunities on alternatives to the use of per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) in chips," the statement says. "For example, we plan to explore the use of AI capacities and digital twins to accelerate the discovery of suitable materials to replace PFAS in semiconductor manufacturing," it says. PFAS, sometimes known as forever chemicals, have been at the center of concerns over pollution in both the US and Europe. They have a wide range of industrial applications but also show up in our bodies, in food and water supplies, and -- as their moniker suggests -- they don't break down for a very long time.
