We've been exploring whether or not an offshore drilling rig can run on green #methanol. We've answered some questions, others remain, and the journey continues. This brief video shows what could be possible in the realm of methanol conversion

And then the supply vessels need to be retrofitted to bunker the different fuel. Then is is practical to change out rigs engines to cover cost of asset? Of course, it will all come down to cost and to whom the cost will be passed onto.

This is great to see. No doubt that to mitigate emissions in hard to abate industries like offshore drilling, no stone should be left unturned in the pursuit of the best ways of reducing the overall footprint. Lost of challenges to be overcome though as I have the impression that the line of potential buyers of green methanol is a lot longer than the suppliers.... so more work to be done for sure in the green energy supply chain. Onwards and upwards

A good idea to say the least 👍🏼 how much energy could the sea supply? I have noticed some inventions in the past that produce energy by consuming the kinetic energy of the waves. If it was possible to place them around the asset would that offer some safety also? Just a thought 💭

Looks very interesting, but quite an cost to install two new engines and two new tanks on deck. Wonder how the numbers can be up to 95 % reduction, as only two engines are methanol engines, to the best of my knowledge is the most of the time 3 engines and some time all 4 needed for the operation of the rig.
