Eccentric butterfly valves: The stem is offset from the center of the valve and the disk is positioned to one side of the pipe. Replacement of low capacity pump with a higher capacity pump and the overall circuit re-evaluation. In case a plant wants to increase its throughput or certain fluid flow, the pump capacity could limit the enhancement opportunity. The existing pump needs to be replaced with a new higher capacity pump to achieve the target flow, however, higher capacity pump means a higher head to be sufficient to deliver the new flow rate. Before installing the new pump, the overall circuit needs to be re-evaluated and HAZOP to be conducted for the targeted loop to study the below points. ▪️The new pump operating/design discharge pressure. ▪️The pump maximum head (shut-off pressure) has to be below the downstream pipelines & equipment design pressure. ▪️If the new pump maximum head is nearing the design pressure of downstream, pressure safety valve (PSV) needs to be installed in the pump discharge to protect the plant’s equipment. ▪️The PSV relief capacity needs to be (at least) similar to the pump rated capacity (blocked discharge case). PSV should be sized as per API 520.

A valve that is built like a tank, environmentally friendly and well known over the last 50 years as being virtually a fit and forget unit. If you are in the steam business you will know of PISTON VALVES. Valve and Flow Control Specialists distribute the “workhorse range” of these valves from 1/2“ (15nb) through to 8” (200nb). 1/2” - 2” Forged Steel Class 800 1/2” to 8” PN 16 (cast iron) or ANSI 150 WCB (Cast steel) Many will remember the Klinger KVN Piston Valves to which we offer a similar quality without the Branded price tag. Externally the PISTON Valve looks like a globe valve however its operation via a cylindrical piston passes through top and bottom bushings effectively opens and closes the valve. These are primarily isolation or on /off valves. They are extremely reliable, robust, don’t have the wear pattern of globes, have a large tight sealing area (Class VI), nearly maintenance free and if you do have to work on them long term its while in line replacing the top and bottom seal rings. Replacing the seals is a lot more cost effective than having to replace a complete valve like if it were a globe. Above 1 1/2“ (40nb) are more easily electric actuated which is becoming more common over last few years. Within a #petroleum #refinery are many critical power and compression applications. Elliott has played an innovative and important role in the development of cutting-edge technology to support and grow these operations for well over 100 years. When an FCCU hot gas expander blade failure disrupted operations and production at a major US refinery, they turned to Elliott to make repairs on the non-Elliott expander. After shipping all of the major assemblies and sub-components to our facility, we inspected and evaluated the components to come up with a plan of action. Those findings resulted in refurbishing spare rotor blades; repairing the exhaust diffuser; and refurbishing the spare integral stator shroud. Additional enhancements that needed to be made included: • Machining the bearing pedestal to provide alignment flexibility for future installations • Replacing the torn inner exhaust casing insulation • Re-blading and rebalancing the rotor assembly to meet new API requirements In this instance, our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction ensured the flawless repair of the four major expander components as well as completion of the work before the customer’s targeted startup date. 1.4 Separators design Extra supporting equipment's are added to the vessel to control the separation process. A- PCV: This valve controls the separator pressure. B- LCV: to control the oil level in the vessel. C- Interface valve: to control water level in the separator. D- Safety valve: valves are connected with the vessel to release the over-design pressure.
