Imagine a world where the former president of the United States and innocent bystanders don't get shot at for attending a rally. What's crazy is that there have been two more mass shootings since the attempted assassination. And what is even crazier is in the month of July there have been over 32 mass shootings in our nation. What if we could give you precious time to alert and respond to gun threats? With AEYE Defend we can use security cameras to detect, locate and alert. https://lnkd.in/drvrDVcP

Seconds matter. The early detection of a firearm can save lives. We are saddened by the events that occurred this weekend aimed at our former POTUS. There is no place for violence within politics, nor within our schools where active shooter situations have become all too familiar. Premier law enforcement agencies have evaluated ROC as superior at recognizing brandished short guns, long guns, and persons of interest. These detections, evaluated in head-to-head tests against leading industry competitors, can be enabled by standard video cameras often part of existing infrastructure. Cameras deployed without ROC weapons and threat detection do very little to prevent an incident from occurring. ROC is tested daily in mission-critical environments, proving that instant detection can in fact save lives — by providing rapid alerts and proactive intelligence to law enforcement and first responders. At ROC, we are fully committed to supporting our national security and public safety. Our prayers and best wishes go out to everyone impacted by the events in Butler, PA. - B. Scott Swann, ROC CEO and 18-year FBI veteran. #ROC #WeaponsDetection #PublicSafety

What should schools do when there are pre-attack indicators that don’t cross the threshold of criminality? Do schools have the resources available to continue engagement with the student after the criminal lead is closed? There are many students that fall into a gray area of concerning behavior that ultimatly never hurt anyone, but without a fully developed behavioral threat management process, there is no mechanism to improve on those outcomes. In this gap between identification and successful intervention, schools and law enforcement are forced to hope for the best and prepare for the worst by hardening schools and tightening response procedures. These are critically important countermeasures, but they aren’t always enough. It isn’t easy to to invest scarce resources into intangible programs that facilitate engagement with troubled students by well-trained school professionals, but these are the programs that operate in the dangerous space between identification and action.

Jason Towse, Mitie’s Managing Director of Business Services, represented Mitie this week in a thought-provoking panel discussion at the FEPS – Fabian Society New Year Conference, on the future of crime and security. With police resources under pressure, collaboration is vital. That's where private sector security companies like Mitie can step in, assisting the police in our collective goal of preventing crime. By sharing our knowledge, working together, and using new technology, we can – and we will – create safer places for us all to live, work and shop in. By basing our security strategies on intelligence, we have a great chance of securing convictions for these criminals.
