“Direct numerical simulation of the turbulent flow around a Flettner rotor” is the name of a scientific report in the latest issue of NATURE. Three colleagues at RISE; Michael Leer-Andersen, Da-Qing Li and now retired Björn Allenström, are being quoted. RISE is developing advanced CFD methods to predict the performance of wind propulsion devices (e.g. Flettner rotors and wing sails) onboard ships in full-scale operational conditions.
