Today UK Finance Finance published the Homes We Need report. It assesses the current state of our housing market and proposes solutions to address the UK’s 4.3 million housing shortfall.  The new government has acted quickly to encourage more housebuilding and ensure that affordable housing is a key part of its new targets. However, the progress needed will not be achieved without cooperation across the public and private sectors. In this report we set out a range of recommendations including making the planning process simpler, removing some of the barriers first-time buyers face and ensuring we’re meeting the housing needs of our ageing population. Hopefully, whoever is next will understand the importance of providing adequate (and affordable) housing 🏡 I am so lucky to have gotten onto the property ladder 🏡 when it was still possible to do that on a normal salary 💰 but my kids don’t stand a chance.
