What Is Sarcopenia and How Can I Prevent It on GLP-1s? Sarcopenia, often referred to as “muscle aging,” is characterized by the progressive loss of muscle mass, strength, and function as we age. ABOM, DNBPAS, Chief Medical Officer, breaks it down in her latest blog post on sarcopenia and GLP-1s. 💪You can preserve muscle mass while on your weight-loss journey by optimizing your protein intake, incorporating strength training, staying active, and paying attention to your rest and recovery. It is what I call the progression of science. And it helps our patients who have diabetes manage their diabetes better. I am talking about understanding chronotype and how that can influence a person's glucose numbers. Just read yesterday a blog by Christine Craig, MS, RD, CDCES on this topic. The link for that blog is https://lnkd.in/g3U2KkhS Her take away points are: - To individualize recommendations - review meal timing and meal compostion - both can influence glucose values - Encourage client's to experiment with macronutrient distribution at different meals - And to stay in tune with other continuing findings in this area Clients find it beneficial to have handouts of information presented to them in sessions. It gives them something to refer back to after they leave your office. You don't have to spend time to create a handout that talks about Chronotype and its impact on glucose numbers! The handout is ready for you and your clients. Plus get 20% off through 2/24/2024 using the code FEBSAVINGS https://lnkd.in/gSDBAaaK
