👧 Meet Karla: As Karla approached her 50th birthday in February 2023, she was overweight and trying to manage high blood pressure with medications. After her doctor prescribed a GLP-1, Karla chose Noom (a benefit option through her employer) to help meet her goals. Fast forward one year, and Karla says she's a new person. “I’m more present today. I always have my camera on. I feel more confident. I’m more engaged with my clients.” Hear more about Karla’s journey, and why she credits her employer - and Noom - for helping to improve her life: https://lnkd.in/eKcCNUEU ⬅

Yesterday, I made a cold call to someone. I had tried to reach this person on more than one occasion. So, I made sure I was prepared when he answered. "Hello?" Me: "Hey, _______, this is Eric over at the IT Outlet. How's it going today?" Them: "It's not going very well, actually. Talk to you later." **click**. What happened? Why did it go so wrong? The truth: it has nothing to do with me. But may the person who answered the phone had already received 15 other cold calls that day. Maybe their dog died recently. It's a possibility that they have relatives/family members who are sick. Did the person recently receive a pessimistic medical diagnosis? Bottom line: I have zero idea why the call went that way. Does the recipient "owe" me an explanation? Absolutely not. Your product/solution is not for everyone. You're not for everyone. Buyers buy when the pain of their existing solution outweighs the cost of doing nothing. And often, you can do nothing about that fact except illuminate a problem that they didn't know existed. After that experience, I went to grab a coffee, sat back down, and kept working. Put in the work, and you'll be rewarded. Take care, folks. And remember-you will never know what kind of battle the person on the other end of the phone call/email/conference call is dealing with!

Injury and damage, physical and psychological, are more common in sport - especially competitive sport - than many realise, and knowing that before they start - or encourage participation - is important Exercise is beneficial, but if it comes with a cost (eg premature arthritis) it's important to factor that in when choosing which exercise to do - and who to do it with, or against, may also be worth considering from the psychological perspective
"When I look back upon the past, it seems to me as if I ought to have acted differently." -Semmelweis (called in from the grave, with his chlorinated lime solution still in hand, but this time with respirator on his face because he chatted with Typhoid Mary).

During last year’s heart month, I became one of the 1000 people per day to experience sudden cardiac arrest. This third leading cause of death affects so many people, for so many reasons. And yet it gets much less attention than many things way down the mortality list. Very few people survive out-of-hospital cardiac arrest - not even 10% in many US counties. Most of us who do survive carry chronic conditions for the rest of our lives. Very little support exists for survivors. Before I started shouting about this with my Substack and book, I felt damn near invisible in these challenges. 🫥 We need your help. Learn CPR. Check out what Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is doing. Spread the word.
Heart Month is here! Let's use this opportunity to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and how we can all make a difference. Did you know President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first Heart Month proclamation in February 1964? Over 50 years later, it's time we spread the word about the importance of #SuddenCardiacAwareness and work towards making survival from SCA the norm, not the exception. Let's join together and share the power of #CPR and #OurHearts. 💓 #HeartMonth
