I've just finished reading Sonya's book! It was such a fantastic and compelling rollercoaster ride. The book covers her strong family foundation, the experimentation during her teenage years, and her many trials and successes. Right and Wrong; Exploring Multiple Perspectives Our minds are often heavily occupied by concepts of right and wrong, constantly evaluating the goodness or badness of things. Many of our conversations revolve around these ideas as well. It's quite common in our lives and society to get caught up in debates about what is right or wrong. We invest so much energy collectively in this that we often overlook the importance of stepping back to consider a broader view. What happens when we do take that step back and broaden our awareness? We see more sides of the same situation and this leads to gaining a more comprehensive understanding. As we start to perceive multiple sides of a situation, the notions of right and wrong begin to fade. They become less clear-cut, less obvious. Years of #experience should not be used as a #selection criterion when #hiring individuals. There are much, MUCH better predictors of #performance out there. Use some of these.

This meta-analysis was interesting! Take a look at the data. Structured interviews, work samples, GMA (general mental ability) tests, and job knowledge tests ranked high as predictors of job performance. Whereas job experience and openness to work were low indicators for job performance. My takeaway away, to give those who don't have much experience a chance. There are other ways to analyze and predict their job performance. What does your company's hiring process look like?
