We aim to empower youth by giving them the chance to directly contribute, which in turn fosters a strong sense of belonging. We are thrilled to unveil our project website, developed with passion by individuals aged 16, 17 from Ukraine, and 27 from Nepal. These passionate youths are currently hard at work on website development, and we are proudly launching our first version. You might be curious about the results – while our website may not boast the polish of a seasoned professional, it certainly meets high standards considering the team's experience and skills. We firmly believe in mutual growth through enhancing their capabilities. Engaging with youth is key, especially for immigrants from diverse backgrounds, as it cultivates a sense of responsibility within the community. Yes, our website is thenordconnect.com, and the reason starting with "the" is we are the only ones. In a sea of conformity, we've chosen the path less traveled, where creativity knows no bounds and innovation dances freely. We are not just another project; we are the pioneers, the trailblazers of our own narrative. Because we dared to dream differently. 💪 #empower #youthengagement #NordConnect Saimaan ammattiopisto Sampo Crossing Borders Charge Incubator The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council Sanaa Talha Rozabela Singh Yubraj Pandey Sabrina Haimonti

In a world where millions are displaced, how can we better support refugees' social and economic inclusion? Open Innovation (OI) remains largely untapped in this crucial area. By encouraging collaboration and co-creation, OI has the potential to open doors for refugees to build skills, secure employment, and contribute meaningfully to their communities Organizations like Coursera and Kiron Open Higher Education provide digital skills training, while Upwork and Fiverr offer remote work opportunities. NGO like Techfugees and initiative such as MIT ReACT (an initiative of Emerging Talent) empower refugees through innovation challenges and entrepreneurial support. QUESTION: 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑑𝑜 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑑 𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑎 𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑛𝑒𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠? I rarely teach in my current academic role, but I am glad I took the time to draft a lecture for the RUNOMI Summer School. I spoke on digital nomadism and other types of transnational remote work from the perspective of them as 𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬... which is where we basically are now that the digital nomad visas (DNVs) have entered the scene. The Summer School program asked: “𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑚𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦?” For me, the question becomes: “𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑑𝑜 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑑 𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑎 𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑝𝑙𝑎𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑔𝑙𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑖𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑛𝑒𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠?” The answer is: very little, at the current stage! Most DNVs leave the visa holders at a liminal position - as a denizen, if you will – with few civic attachments and limited temporality for their stay. As a consequence, most countries with DNVs might be gaining a surge in foreign spending for a while, but completely miss out on 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 that would be possible if they integrated this foreign talent better into their economies and society in general. You can read more on my thoughts on the ‘tourism rationale’ versus the ‘immigration rationale’ in DNV policies here: https://lnkd.in/d_7GFTs6 Thank you to all the participants of the Summer School, as well as Noemi Mena Montes and Giacomo Solano for including me.

Newcomers to a new city often face various challenges as they navigate their way through unfamiliar environments. 🙋♂️ Common challenges include language barriers, cultural adjustment, employment gaps, social isolation, access to services, housing issues, discrimination and prejudice, legal & documentation issues, etc. Support systems, community organizations, and initiatives can play a crucial role in helping newcomers overcome these challenges. At Horizon Resource Network e.V., our goal is to contribute our quota to plugging these gaps by offering support, resources, and a sense of belonging to newcomers in Germany. In cooperation with the Sozialbehörde Hamburg, we have kickstarted a new project titled: Social Integration Hub Hamburg (SIT Hub). 😍 👏 Social Integration Hub is an interfaith and intercommunity meeting point for newcomers, migrants, refugees, visitors, etc., to connect, receive/share helpful resources, support one another, show/receive intercultural love and solidarity, build social capital, and a sense of community. At the Social Integration Hub, various social, academic, and cultural programs will be implemented to facilitate a smoother transition and enhance the overall well-being of newcomers in Hamburg. SIT Hub is located on the 3rd floor of Wendenstraße 25, 20097 Hamburg. Please stay tuned for information about upcoming programs at SIT Hub. #integration #migrant #germany #socialinteraction #connections

📣 Today I had the pleasure of representing the Fundacja Inicjatyw Społeczno-Ekonomicznych (Foundation for Social and Economic Initiatives) at the next meeting of the international Project P-E-A-C-E'22 at the Lithuanian Social Business Association and Diesis Network. The project aims to empower Lithuanian and European organisations working with migrants to build their capacity to promote social and labour market integration using social economy tools. As always, thank you for the invitation and the opportunity to share our experiences in the labour market. Discussing similar solutions and good practices from different perspectives, with various legal and formal restrictions in each country, is interesting and opens up perspectives for thinking about creating innovative solutions in a more universal way, so that they can be implemented in different contexts. #peace22 #socialeconomy #labourmarket #refugees #socialinnovation
