Today marks a significant milestone with the commencement of the European Critical Raw Materials Act https://lnkd.in/dmW6FVhC This pivotal legislation is set to strengthen Europe's supply chain and support the development of critical minerals projects in Europe and drive the continent towards a more sustainable and resilient future. The Act is a game changer for Nordic Nickel Ltd as we set about realising our ambition to become an significant supplier of sustainable critical minerals in Europe. Importantly the Act sets benchmarks for the development of domestic capacities along the strategic raw material supply chain to be reached by 2030 which include 10% of the EU's annual needs for extraction (when currently there is less than 3%). Additionally, projects that qualify as Strategic Projects will benefit from further support and shorter permitting times. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the EIT RawMaterials Summit in Brussels, where industry leaders gathered to discuss the future, challenges and funding needs of critical raw materials in Europe. Following on from this theme I was thrilled to be invited to join a panel discussion at the Reuters: Industrial Decarbonisation Conference Europe 2024 in Amsterdam this week and discuss the immense opportunities now available in Europe for critical minerals projects. The momentum for supporting critical minerals projects in Europe is certainly building, and it's amazing to witness the collective effort to decarbonize our industries and secure our critical raw material supply.
