'Caring for those who care for others' Tailored coaching and support for Managers of Regulated Services.. Supporting their work and wellbeing integration which leads to retaining them in the role they love.
Marketing a care home is definitely one of the many jobs a home manager has. In my experience there are a few barriers that stop the manager being effective in this area. Firstly most managers are from a care background and view marketing as a job to be done instead of understanding that it has to be done in order to bring in enough money to keep the home buoyant and the impacts on the reputation of the business. Some managers are not confident with marketing and are uncomfortable with the sales side of the business. Due to all the pressures and regulations in the care industry marketing often falls down the list of priorities. Safeguarding, audits, action plans, complaints, training, recruitment etc all taking priority. I believe that behind every business problem is a 'person' problem and if managers are uncomfortable with marketing/sales then it is the confidence that needs support. Also the manager has to have believe in the service to be able to promote it, this also falls down the list of priorities. Helping to change a managers perspective of marketing and sales can make a huge difference. Once they believe in themselves, their team and can sing their praises then progress is made. Then again, some managers see this as boasting and are just not comfortable with it. Onwards and upwards. 😊 All ideas welcome.
