Can a consumer test for aging clocks may soon become a reality? Researchers from Harvard Medical School have made groundbreaking progress in understanding biological vs. chronological aging by focusing on specific organs. Their insights offer hope for addressing chronic diseases more effectively. Using data from ~3,000 proteins measured with Olink® Explore in over 50,000 individuals from the UK Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project, they developed organ-specific aging clocks. These were based on proteins with at least 4-fold higher expression in targeted organs compared to others, as identified through tissue-specific gene expression databases. A team from Harvard Medical School have approached the issue of biological vs chronological aging from the perspective of specific organs, gaining some remarkable insights into the nature of chronic diseases.
