Empowering the underprivileged is a rising tide that lifts all boats. 🚢 When we invest in those who need it most, we create a ripple effect of opportunity and growth that benefits the entire community. By providing access to digital skills and online resources, we're unlocking pathways to self-sufficiency and success. And the rewards go far beyond just financial gains. Empowerment fosters a sense of dignity, purpose, and belonging. But perhaps the greatest benefit is the way it brings us together. Empowerment is a powerful unifier, reminding us of our shared humanity and the strength we find in community. 🙏 So let's keep pushing for a more empowered world, one person at a time. #IO #Empowerment #CommunityImpact

Community Development Forums (CDFs) are inclusive platforms that bring together diverse stakeholders in labour-intensiveindustries, to transform previously hierarchical worker-management relations. They have become a space for women and youth to exercise leadership, voice their concerns, point out their needs and dispel widely held views that they lack the competence to do so. Through collective decisions, need assessment and action plans, CDFs have assisted in reducing household costs, increasing savings, improving working conditions and expanding access to safe drinking water. Moreover, it has helped break barriers in being recognised as a citizen, opening a business, and learning knowledge that continues to empower individuals, families, and communities to make the change they envision. #Chrysalis #SriLanka #AnythingIsPossible #CommunityDevelopmentForums #CommunityLedSolutions #EmpoweringCommunities #InclusiveDevelopment

They say, "Community impact work is only for the underprivileged, not for everyone." And I disagree. Common Misconception... Community impact work is only for the underprivileged, not for everyone. 🌟 Key Insight: Collective impact efforts benefit from advocates and allies at all levels of society, not solely the destitute. Many may believe that community impact initiatives are exclusively for the underprivileged. However, Ashley N. Campbell, Ed M, PhD discussion reveals that true change and collective impact require advocates and allies from various backgrounds. By engaging in conversations, being allies, and standing up for each other, individuals, regardless of privileges, can make a real difference in their communities. It's a misconception to think that community impact work is limited to certain groups; in reality, it's a shared responsibility for everyone invested in creating positive change. Cheers to all you community advocates out there! #communityimpact #socialimpact

Our #MtS Youth Homelessness Social Innovation Lab funded a study that examined the effects of financial and identity-based support on young people who have experienced #homelessness. All 40 participants received rent subsidies, and half were randomly selected to also receive coaching. The coaching intervention focused on empowering youth by enhancing their identity capital, including purpose, control, self-efficacy, and self-esteem. Vital this women only Connect Hub in Glasgow not only remains open, but continues beyond its current 3 days. This is more than a resource, but a blueprint of how we can meet women's needs across Scotland. Women's experience of homelessness is different from men, and those needs are not reflected in data and statistics. We therefore do not meet women's needs in resource allocation and service design and delivery. Most drivers of homelessness hit women quicker and harder. It is essential women specific supports, like this are replicated and upscaled and co produced by their own lived experiences.
‼️ If you want to help women in Scotland experiencing homelessness - please read this ‼️ Earlier this year the Simon Community opened Scotland’s FIRST Women-only Connect hub for women experiencing homelessness. The comments below say way more than I can but they are pioneering a safe space for women, and saving lives on a daily basis! Right now we only have funding to be open 3 days a week and that’s NOT enough. Please message me if you want a chat over a tea or coffee about how you can get involved and support this amazing lifesaving place! #simoncommunity #scotland #safespaceforwomen ✨
