Attendees at the Offshore Decommissioning Conference in St Andrews can experience virtual reality at the NSTA’s stand, where we’re hosting SustainaVerse, part of the D’Arcy Thompson Simulator Centre. The system lets people survey fascinating landscapes, both subsea and on land. It can also be used to plan complex underwater salvage operations. If you are feeling adventurous, why not put on the headset, pick up the joysticks and give it a try? We are also showcasing the EDGAR (Explosives Use in Decommissioning—Guide for Assessment of Risk) application, which quantifies the impact of explosive detonations on a range of marine mammals and fish. It was delivered as part of SustainaVerse’s “To the Mind’s Eye” series, sponsored by the NSTA. In addition, visitors can find out about the NSTA’s work to make decommissioning more cost efficient and provide suppliers with a clearer picture of upcoming projects. There are also opportunities to join the NSTA’s decommissioning and repurposing team. Offshore Energies UK #virtualreality #decommissioning #DecomConf23
