NorthCountry Federal Credit Union’s Post

In addition to all of the volunteers, highlights of our school wide Financial Reality Fair were the students, both past and present. Eight current students had the opportunity to have their voices heard by local reporters about this activity and the importance of financial education. Three of the volunteers just happened to be Winooski School District graduates who returned with NorthCountry Federal Credit Union. I am so grateful for the credit union’s innovative Steps to Success program which has benefited our graduating seniors with employability skills and job offers right after graduation. Seeing these graduates passing on financial knowledge and skills to the next generation of students warmed my heart. Milan Magar is wrapping up his senior year at Champlain College and completing an internship with NorthCountry. His goal is to increase access to financial information, particularly to our new American community. David Klinker is also a student at Champlain, runs his own business and works in NorthCountry’s marketing department. I am excited to see the video he produces of this event. Hoang Thien Nguyen was able to transition from the Steps to Success program to a part-time job as a teller with NorthCountry, while also studying Accounting at Community College of Vermont. I am so excited for our seniors who will participate in the program this summer and to see where it will take them.
