The Northcrest team is excited to showcase the work of the ASTROSANKOFA ARTS Initiative , whose collaborative efforts have materialized into a stunning new mural on the Downsview Airport Lands. Collaborative art, with its unique blend of diverse perspectives and talents, often yields richer, more resonant creations. This piece itself is indicative of the fact that when artists come together, they not only merge their skills but also their stories. The AstroSankofa collective’s mural, "The People of Downsview Land," exemplifies this. Through deep community engagement and historical research, they have crafted a memory scape that invites viewers on a journey through time and space—a living testament to the history and legacy of the Downsview region. Read more about the piece in AstroSankofa’s words below: AstroSankofa – The People of Downsview Land The People of the Downsview Land mural is a testament to the AstroSankofa artist collective's commitment to community engagement and historic preservation. Informed by in-depth research and interviews with community members and elders, the mural is a memory scape that explores different times and spaces of the Downsview region. It invites people to view an astral projection from two Afronauts' (Black Chrononauts) time machine, allowing viewers to learn about the region's legacy. The mural features floating tablet gizmos that display important historical dates overlaying dynamic depictions of different parts of Downsview's history and some of the stories from the online collection. Also included are several animals and native plants found in different parts of the year. The mural also features two airplanes that used to be built and flown at Downsview. At the genesis of the mural is a QR code, which activates a 3D augmented reality experience that animates the mural and contains video clips of the artists breaking down its different elements. We look forward to the ongoing impact of this collaborative masterpiece and the continued enrichment it brings to our community.

The Transmutatiographe is a poetic essay in clairvoyance that goes beyond a simple immersive exhibition. Thanks to a minimalist technical set-up, based on the use of virtual reality helmets without a computer on their back, connected to a router and PC system with a maximum of 120 FPS, visitors are propelled into parallel worlds where they can move around as if in the real world. These 120 FPS (frames per second) enable extremely fluid and responsive visual definition, creating a high-quality immersive experience and reinforcing the credibility of the virtual environments. What makes these worlds feel so real is Transmutatiographe's ability to combine pictorial, biological and digital elements to generate phenomena of immaterial digital visions. Thanks to the Unreal Engine video game rendering engine, the environments, although not photorealistic, achieve a credibility and veracity rarely attained, creating an artificial living world https://lnkd.in/eGsqSc3U

"What results from the spectator view of reality is equivalent to a photographic snapshot — an instantaneous ‘freeze-frame’ within a restrictive perspective. Here all that is included in the foreground recedes to vanishing point at a distant horizon, and from that vanishing point all that is seen in the foreground is itself reduced to a vanishing point. We have a set of box-frames of progressively diminishing size receding into distance within the initial freeze-frame or ‘field of view’ apparent to the observer. All that is present within the freeze-frame can then conveniently be divided up mathematically into a set of rectangular boxes whose length, depth and breadth can be measured in such definitively discrete units as cubic centimetres or cubic millimetres. By this means we can produce an instantaneous three-dimensional ‘map’ (or two-dimensional map, if we flatten this out), which can serve us very well as a navigational aid that helps us temporarily to ‘know where everything is’ in relation to all else contained within that frame of reference. But how realistic and comprehensive an awareness of reality — and the true nature of space — does this map actually provide for us? How well does it correspond with your actual experience of life in the natural world? And how does it make you feel? Clearly, the map alienates from view all that actually occurs prior to, after and beyond its immediate frame of reference, including the observer! It only records a small portion of what is ‘out there’, beyond the observer, while excluding what is ‘in here’, within the observer. It has nothing to do with how we actually feel, inside ourselves. As a map of reality, it is profoundly one-sided and partial. This is because three-dimensionality is a transient quality of material form somewhere, NOT unrestricted space everywhere, which is infinite, intangible and all-inclusive." Precisely... last Thanksgiving I saw Salvador Dali's painting of 'The Crucifixion'... and discovered the net of a Tesseract. That is the navigational path... the room you are in and 6 surfaces leading to another Teledeck to Teleport into. The 8th cube completes a 4D Hypercube... you have all the 3D video streams required to build it in software. Walk into the life-sized 3D Teledeck Near Life Experience, walk around a Tesseract stack of the experience outside. With headset app development, hold a Hypercube your hand and stretch. rotate, and navigate into a 3D Teledeck and Teleport between the 6 connected rooms of the Hypercube. Alan Rayner I see myself perched on the upper corner of 16'x16'x9' 60 FPS Teledeck swinging my feet someday... wearing a headset and navigating with my hands (or eyes).... experiencing the inside of a Web3 Teledeck NLE broadcast... with hundreds of navigable rooms created by independent artists.

Wearetundra, those techno-poetic alchemists, have created an installation that completely changes the rules of what it means to experience art. Patented technologies perfectly sync up sound, light, and projected animation, making patterns that look like tides, birdsong, tree branches, and weather systems. It leads to a state of synaesthetic nirvana. When fractal subwoofer arpeggios and pulsing vortices of kaleidoscopic light work together, one lets go of all physical ties. As the viewer is immersed in beautiful motion, they become a part of this artificial biosphere. Exactly how does it work? - Using the brain's natural responses to patterns and movements - Rejects fake artificial realities in favour of real immersion - Active co-creation is encouraged instead of passive viewing. How it works! - Patterns in nature that can be copied using light, sound, and animation - technology that changes the experience based on how each person interacts with it - Stage settings that put the audience member right in the middle of the live art "Palpitations" is the perfect piece of art for someone who has feasted on art's praised high points and dry low points. Wearetundra successfully combines the human, natural, and technological worlds, breaking down the walls between the observer and the observed. Involvement means becoming a synapses and a disturbance of a transcendent, pulsing new cosmology. Credit: wearetundra

Let's face it, today's audio guided experiences at museums are outdated. We're craving more interactive and engaging ways to explore art, to delve deeper into the stories behind each masterpiece. Introducing: Interactive Artworks by XR Vizion Picture this: You're at the museum, intrigued by an artwork. You pull out your phone, scan the piece, and suddenly, you're in conversation with an AI curator or docent. They offer fresh perspectives, share intriguing details, and answer your questions—all in your preferred language. But wait, it gets better! The AR lens on your camera takes you beyond the museum walls. Point it at a Greek sculpture, and witness its original form and setting, with an AI historian guiding you through history in real-time. During my recent visit to New York, I put this concept to the test with Vermeer's "Study of a Young Woman" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Check out the video and imagine the possibilities! Art lovers, how excited are you for these immersive experiences? #AugmentedReality #ImmersiveArt #MuseumExperience #GenerativeAI

QR codes are transforming art. But not just as digital gateways. They're becoming the art itself. → Artists are integrating QR codes directly into paintings, sculptures, and installations ↳ Blending technology with traditional mediums ↳ Creating interactive experiences for viewers → QR code art adds layers of meaning ↳ Scan to reveal hidden messages or additional content ↳ Connect physical art to digital worlds → This fusion opens new possibilities for artists ↳ Expand storytelling beyond the canvas ↳ Engage audiences in novel ways → Challenges arise in balancing aesthetics and functionality ↳ Codes must be visually appealing yet scannable ↳ Artists experiment with color, shape, and integration techniques → Museums and galleries are embracing this trend ↳ Offering visitors deeper insights into exhibits ↳ Providing audio guides, artist interviews, or behind-the-scenes content QR code art is bridging the gap between physical and digital realms, revolutionizing how we create and experience art. PS: How might QR codes change your artistic expression?

The act of observing art isn't merely a solitary endeavor; it's a communal experience deeply influenced by our surroundings and interactions. Grantee Bahador Bahrami, leading the Crowd Cognition Lab at Ludwig Maximilian University, delves into this through a groundbreaking research project. This innovative endeavor seeks to unravel the impact of collective exploration on the perception and understanding of art. It challenges conventional wisdom by examining how group dynamics reshape individual ways of perceiving and comprehending visual art. Using cutting-edge technology like portable eye-tracking devices seamlessly integrated into glasses frames, Bahrami's team can observe viewers' gaze patterns in real-time as they navigate through museums or galleries. This approach provides insights into how individuals engage with art both individually and in group settings. The project hinges on contrasting two social science hypotheses: one suggesting that group dynamics encourage diverse and dispersed attention, while the other proposes that group settings might limit attention to common elements, overlooking individual details. Bahrami's work not only aims to support aesthetic cognitivism but also holds potential for additional practical applications. By creating a platform to record and display visitors' gallery experiences, museums and galleries could gain valuable insights into audience engagement. Additionally, this research could facilitate a dialogue between viewers and artists, potentially guiding the creation of art that resonates more deeply with audiences. Ultimately, this exploration of collective art viewing isn't just about understanding how we observe art; it's about uncovering new pathways for cultural institutions to enhance visitor experiences and fostering a richer understanding of the transcendent through artistic expression. Art in the Digital Age: Where Pixels Meet Passion In the digital age, art has transcended its traditional boundaries, merging pixels with passion to create something extraordinary. Today, artists wield styluses instead of brushes, and canvases have evolved into screens, opening a realm of infinite possibilities. Digital art democratizes creativity. Platforms like Instagram and Behance showcase diverse talents from every corner of the globe, allowing artists to share their work with a click. This accessibility breaks down barriers, fostering a global community of creators and admirers. Technology breathes life into static images, with augmented reality and digital installations transforming spaces and experiences. The fusion of art and tech invites us to interact, engage, and immerse ourselves in ways previously unimaginable. But as we embrace this digital renaissance, we must ponder: Does the essence of art remain unchanged, or are we witnessing a profound transformation in how we create and perceive beauty?

VRTY Community Art has no universal definition. Understanding art is a matter of subjectivity. Here at VRTY, we have a school of thought. Art is not about skill nor technique. Art is about influence. Art is influence. It’s self-expression that reflects, communicates, and shapes culture and time. It’s the ability to fantasize something that doesn’t yet exist- and sparking a movement to bring it to reality. It’s far beyond aesthetics. In 2024, trust in traditional institutions is declining. What are the long term effects of this? We don’t know. Everything is uncertain. But what is certain is the evolutionary mindset facing our current youth. We are creating in ways never before seen. Let’s let the art do the talking.
