Top 2️⃣ frustrations Architects have with Engineers: Every time we ask, these 2 points come up over and over 👇🏼 1) Nonresponsive. 📨 A call left unreturned. An email ignored. You might as well tell your client they're not a priority. I'm sure you have an excuse why, but that's all it is - an excuse. Find a system to be responsive, otherwise customer satisfaction continues to decline and churn rises. 2) Late project coordination 🕔 In the early phases of a design, the architect is moving quickly. Locking in major decisions and moving to finer details entering construction drawings. But if your processes don't identify critical engineering coordination items early for the architect and development to be successful... you're going to have to address them later. Final construction documents is already crunch time, but your late coordination creates rework and potentially challenging conversations with the owner. Have a system to identify potential issues before they become too big to handle down the road. (Hint - These are company issues more than individual.) Architects, what did I miss? What's something you absolutely need from subconsultants? 👇 #architecture #engineering #structuralengineering #construction #realestate

Bad engineers look a lot like... Bad architects. The bad ones: - Assume coordination will just happen - Give no warning of major design updates - Copy-paste systems from their last project - Show no initiative The good ones: - Provide proactive solutions - Flag potential coordination issues - Suggest better ways of doing things - Show initiative Engineers and architects are a team. We deliver projects together and can't do it alone. Yes, there is much nuance, and good v bad is oversimplified. BUT if you aren't working together then you're going to have difficulty delivering. Don't get me wrong here, this is easier said than done. But being better at delivering great projects means better communication. _______________________ If you like my content give me a follow and hit the bell. Architects that don't value their expertise: - Regularly allow scope creep - Don't pursue overdue invoices - Are disrespected by clients - Accept low profit margins - Take on every project Architects that value their expertise: - Are comfortable with saying no - Only work with respectful clients - Always charge for work beyond scope - Freeze work when invoices are overdue - Work on fewer projects with better clients What would you add?

🛠️ Finding the right architect and team can be one of the biggest challenges in construction. It’s not just about design—it’s about getting the right mix of skills, communication, and understanding. Here’s why it’s tough: 1. Vision mismatch – Not every architect understands the unique goals of your project. 🎯 2. Technical gaps – Finding someone with the specific expertise your project requires is rare. 🏗️ 3. Communication issues – Poor collaboration between the architect and the team leads to costly delays. 🤝 4. Creative vs. practical – Balancing innovative design with functionality can be a struggle. 🎨🔨 5. Budget conflicts – Sticking to the budget while maintaining quality design is hard to manage. 💵 6. Regulation knowledge – Not all architects are well-versed in local building codes and laws. 📜 7. Experience matters – Less experienced architects may overlook critical project needs. 🔍 8. Team coordination – Misalignment between architects and engineers can derail progress. ⚙️ 9. Timelines slip – Delays are common if the architect can't keep pace with the project schedule. ⏳ 10. Client expectations – Architects may struggle to balance their vision with the client’s exact needs. 🏡 It’s clear—the right team makes all the difference in turning your vision into reality. 🔑 Contact Smart Builds to ensure your project gets the right architect and team from the start.
